hi Gotta,

I was in med surg for a few weeks, not my niche for sure. I just started in the ER and so far I love it, that is where I belong!

Good luck

How cool! Your past experience surely will help you. It must be an amazing experience working in the ER.

Totally cool! Congratulations. :)

Hi NECC nursing students. I graduated in 05 from NECC and have fond memories. It is a rough and stressful 2 years but well worth it. For those of you who will have Gail as a clinical instructor in Nursing 3 and 4, consider yourself fortunate. Yes she is tough and has high expectations but you will learn so much. If your doing a clinical at Lowell General look for me on IMC, I still remeber what it was like to be a student, so if I can help you I will. And by the way those blue scrub tops you now wear I'm responsible for. We had to wear blue and white striped oxfords (with out pockets) tucked in to those unflatering white pants. I went through hoops to get that changed!

hey sweetooth, are you at LGH ER? I'll be waiting for your patients to come up to IMC. I work 7a-7p, my picture is currently on the wall of nursing so if you see me introduce yourself!

Blue and white stripped oxfords? ACK!

Thank you for crusading for us. :)

Oh, see! I knew I'd have another question.

How are the dosage calculation tests? Esp. the one in Nur101? Did anyone fail the course because of them? Do they do them in the beginning of the semester?

Oh, I love Math. :uhoh3:

This is awesome! Its been driving me nuts to figure out if you were a NECC student! The math tests, nothin'! No one failed in my class. The instructor is great. She sends out tons of practice tests throughout all of nursing 1 so by the time the real test gets there, you'll ace it. Its all formulas. Ratio/proportion. Easy as pie.

I agree with all that squee-gee said, especially getting in with someone early for your "buddy". Me and another girl in my class hit it off immediately and we have been each others savior all the way through this. Now are best friends. I don't know what I would do without that girl sometimes and we found out recently that we are in the same clinical group together!

You're going to do fine. I sent you a private message with my personal email. If you want, send me your email address and I'll forward you all of my notes from nursing 1 and answer any other questions you may have! See you at the freshmen tea we'll be hosting for you! Good luck!

I love you!!! Really, I do! You have no idea how much your words of wisdom (and encouragement) mean to me!

I am so, so excited. I took a few of my classes on the Lawrence campus last year and I remember all the "people with the blue shirts". :lol2: I was SOOO jealous of you guys....Now I am one of you! Really, it is quite an honor being accepted into this program....Now I just have to learn to hang and bang!:lol2: I don't work, but I have two young children at home (5 & 3) so it will be a challenge.....but a fun one. :) I haven NO medical experience at all so I might be behind the 8 ball a little bit. Did you find any of the NCLEX prep books to help you w/ your exams? If so, which one did you use?

I actually did sign up for a mentor and we have that Mentor Reception next Wednesday! I am so excited to meet my mentor....He or she will probably be not as excited to meet me because I tend to talk people's ear off.

Hey, you know, I found another NECC student on this board today (and I thought I was the only one). She's in nursing 3 now and is posting under Gigglesrn2b or something like that. She's super nice! Anyway, I don't know if she's in the day or night program but you probably know her. :)

Don't go too far....I might have another question up my sleeve. :lol2:

HEHEHE, I'm a celebrity!!! :lol2:

Hi!!!!

Do you guys really host a tea for us? I'm so excited!!!

I'm so glad to have found some NECC students on this board! YAY!

Oh, and I sent you an email. :)

Your so welcome!! - I talked to gigglesrn2b also.. It's awesome being on allnurses and talking to people who go to the same school! Please keep in touch and let us know how your first day goes!

OMG - Thank you sooo much for helping bring about the change of uniform!! I heard about the old style uniform - what we wear now is so much nicer than that! (shirts tucked in??!!):barf01:

Also, I completely agree with you about Gail - she is a tough but excellent instructor. I learned a lot during her clinical rotation, and I hope I have her again this year.
