Hello everyone!

I will be a new grad starting at North Arundel this summer. Has anyone ever worked here or know anyone who has? What are your thoughts? I have heard alot of good things about the hospital and I was just wondering what you all thought. Thanks :)

Hey Kat 983

I have been chating with you about the NCLEX. I have'nt heard anything about North Arundel. I am starting at Anne Arundel Medical Center in September. I heard great things about that hospital. Have you heard anything about that one? All the other hospitals I checked into have not so good reps, Southern Maryland Hospital, Civista, Calvert Memorial and Saint Mary's Hospital. Is North Arundel high tech like Anne Arundel. That is one thing I am excited about. Computerized MARs and charting.

Hello everyone!

Hey Evelyn-I would have posted earleir but for some reason, my computer this week would not let me log into the forums.

What have you heard about North ARundel? I havent heard much about either one. At NAH they have retention bonuses which is really nice. They are issued every Jan and July and what you recieve depends on what shift you work (for example nights i believe gets about 2500 i think). They have also paid for kaplan and all the fees for the nclex which is nice. They just built a new cancer center and are planning to build another building with L&D, etc and some more med surg floors also.

I have not heard much about AAMC. But the people that i know that have worked there seemed to have liked it.

Oh, I think that North ARundel is still paper charting, at least that was what i was shown when i went on a tour of the unit i will be working there. So if i pass boards on the 1st, ill start on the 12th of July so hopefully then i can give you some more info!

Back to kaplan, i got my readiness exam back and i was in the passing range ( i was borderline for the diagnostic), and still i have taken the CD quizzes up to test 4 and have only recieved the highest grade of 65%. Frusturating!

And the countdown beging 4 days till i test! :uhoh21:

Hey Kat,

You are doing fine! A score of 65% is what you want. I know you will pass. As for all the students in my graduating class, all that have take the NCLEX thus far, have passed. SO far it is like 23 students that have passed. Out of all of us only one did not take the Kaplan Course and he still passed.

Trust me, I know you will pass and you will see RN beside your name. I wish you the best. Try to find something relaxing to do over the next 4 days and the next two after taking it. You think it is bad now, wait til you have taken the exam. Those two days waiting for your results is pure misery. :crying2:

I really don't know anything about North Arundel either. I feel that I have chose the right place to work. I am very excited about it. Let me know when you pass! Take Care!

I know you guys are new grads, but North Arundel Hospital is the closest to my house. Would you want your father or mother to be a patient there? Just curious, in case I need another trip to the ER.
