Hi!
Just wanted to start one for Marquette University MSN Direct for Summer 2017 because I didn't see one. Did anyone hear back from them yet? Good luck to everyone who applied!
Yea I'm pretty bothered by it as well.. it's actually kind of odd. When you called did they tell you what the process was like in detail getting into the FNP track? I understand we apply for it our last semester but what are the admitting criteria?? If we're in good standing throughout our 18 months does this mean we're right in there? Do we have to show proof of our GRE again? Previous transcripts from other schools? It would be extremely tiresome to go through an entire separate process to get into FNP that was similar to applying for this program we've gotten in now. You know? On the website it says we are awarded our MSN after 18 months contingent on passing the NCLEX... but then I also read on previous threads that they don't award you the MSN after 18 months, just RN... and you would have to successfully complete your chosen specialty which for FNP would take a while... because we would first have to apply to the Older-Adult Primary Care NP program... fulltime is 4 semesters long but most complete in 2 years... then after completing that program we can apply for our FNP certificate which is an additional year.... the format is very different than other programs such as Vanderbilt, Boston College, MGH institute, etc where you are awarded your MSN in your specialty upon 2-3 years. And that's it.
akphysio, yea we have to choose either adult or peds for speciality then apply for the FNP certificate after that. I didn't ask about the criteria but they said I would have to talk to the options coordinator. She said if we are in good standing for the 18 months then we'll most likely get our specialty when we apply. I'm not sure about showing proof of our GRE, that is a good question to ask.
I agree, the format is really different from most programs. However, I heard good things about Marquette so we'll be fine. Do you know if we have to find our own preceptor for clinicals. I just realized alot of schools do that. Hopefully Marquette assigns us our preceptors.
Hi everyone!
I wasn't aware that applications were accepted on a rolling basis. I swore I read the FAQ more than 20 times and somehow missed that, but of course I am seeing that written clearly now. I also did not submit until the last day so I'm pretty worried. Has anyone who submitted during the last pool heard back yet?? On another note, I am from Milwaukee, so if anyone has any questions about the city, feel free to ask!
Thanks!
I too had read the FAQ's multiple times and up until checking it just a few minutes ago, it most definitely never said that they process applications on a rolling basis! I remember it saying that they didn't even look at applications until after the deadline, therefore submitting earlier wouldn't necessarily give you a better chance. I submitted my application on the last day, and I heard back the following week. I feel like no news means you still have a chance, because if they didn't like your application, they would have rejected you already, right? Someone on this thread mentioned that there were over 350 applicants, so maybe they just haven't gotten to your application yet! Keep positive! :)
