I have applied for Marquette's Direct-entry to MSN program. I will find out in January if I am excepted. I also would like to receive feedback on this program from other individuals. I would also like to know my chances of being accepted.

B.A. Business Administration 3.04 gpa

L.P.N. program 3.76 gpa

straight A's in all prerequisite courses taken at C.C.

GRE HORRIBLE= verbal 400 analytical 430 essay 4.0

I have been employed as an LPN in LTC and AL for over 1 year

I would like to know from current students or alumni the chances that I have for exceptance.

Hi everyone - I am an alumni from Marquette with my BSN and also reentered there for my Masters. I really like the program and what the professors offer for their students. I personally am not in the acute care program - I am in peds (grad may 2008)- but have talked with those in acute care and they absolutely love it. I encourage you to come up and talk with some of the staff and advisors (who are also professors) about the program. I think that both of you have an excellent chance of being accepted. There is alot of work on your own - but in the end it is well worth it. I did not live on campus - I drove 70 miles one way for my classes. It is a very good idea to hook up with someone not only for carpooling but also to have a shoulder to cry on, when needed. We all know that the only ones who really understand what it is what we are going through are those who are going through the same thing. Please feel free to contact me with more questions - I may be able to conect you to the right people at Marquette who can answer them for you. Good Luck and hope to see you on campus in the future.

Hello,

Thank you soo much for responding to my message. I am excited to hear your optimism regarding my possible exceptance. I am applying for the geriatrics NP. I am mostly worried about my GRE scores. How competitive is the admissions process? Approximately how many individuals apply and how many are actually accepted? What was your personal experience with the interview process? The application deadline is January 13, 2007 I beleive. How close to the deadline do they contact u if they are interested in setting up an interview. I plan on living on my own if accepected within close proximity to the campus. I looked around and finding a cheap apartment appears to be extremely attainable. I plan on working a 5-month stretch of multiple double shifts to put away plenty of money so I wont have to work while in school. I have already completed an acclerated LPN program and I know that constant study and Not working is the key to sucess. I am excited 2 hear how much u enjoy the program and the university. I look forward 2 hearing from u and your opionions.

Thank you

have you spoken with anyone yet from the college regarding these questions? I do not think that you will have a hard time getting accepted. I went there for my undergrad and continued into my masters and with a high enough GPA did not have to take the GRE. There are hundreds of students who do apply to the nursing program and only a small percentage are accepted. Don't be discouraged, I thought the same thing when I applied to undergrad school. Keep your hopes up and just remain positive and that you can do anything that you put your mind to. :icon_hug: (A hugh for encouragment) Please, when looking for a place to live, talk to those who live in the area and I also encourage you to speak with the student housing department to get further information. If you have not had a chance to come up for a tour please do so and also for orientation - you can get this information on their home page at www.mu.edu and select contacts and visits. This will give you some links to the people who can answer your questions. I am sorry that I am not able to answer these questions for you - but can lead you in the right direction.:wink2:

:mortarboard: Good luck if you decide to go to Marquette University, I loved it and I am a travel nurse now! I didn't have the best grades in college, but I knew what I wanted to do and that as take care of people and if you put your mind to it, like meeper said, you can do anything!
