  1. Thats what I figured. I have experience unrelated to dialysis. This is what I want to do and I just hope that someone will take a chance on me. I know that the training is extensive and expensive for the company. i see so many posts that state that they are so short staffed. I wonder if anyone that works for Davita or FMC can shed so light on hiring practices related to new grads and the awful economy that we are in right now. OneKidneyNurse thankyou for your support.
  2. I applied online and I also mailed them a cover letter and my resume. I will have clarification that I passed my ncclex tomorro and I suppose the next step is to go to these centers and ask to fill out an application and ask to speak to someone. It was a totally different story when I got my LPN and almost every nursing home and assisted living facility contacted me right away. Is FMC and Davita hiring right now? Do they have a hiring freeze? Will they only hire experienced nurses? I guess I need to have a more positive outlook and keep my fingers crossed. Thank you for your concern.
  3. I just took my Ncclex-RN today at 75 questions. I have applied to every dialysis center in my area and I have not heard anything while, FMC weekly posts new jobs for RN's. I have no dialysis experience and prior to RN school I have been an LPN for 4 years working in LTC and Assisted Living. I know that the economy is bad and im frustrated not to hear anything. I have read other posts that dialysis centers are very short staffed. I know that it is a big investment to train someone and I know that dialysis experience is definately preffered I guess my question is will some one give me a chance. What should I do? Do I have a chance at getting into dialysis at this time Bobo:crying2:

  6. I found out that I was accepted by Lakeview School of Nursing direct entry to BSN. Will start August 2007 at EIU campus. Would like 2 hear from other applicants or former students about their experiences. Thanks, Eric
  7. I don't think that it is leukemia. The normal range for WBCs is 5,000 to 10,000 and the value that u have is 4,000. It would be outragously high if it was leukemia. Im not sure if values differ with peds patients. RBCs are nomal but slightly low hgb and hematocrit so dont really seem anemic. I would suspect dehydration hypotension tacycardia, with some sort of bacterial infection and the patient appears to be slightly immunocomprimised and by low neutrophils, WBCs, lymph, monocytes. Appears to be in the acute phase with a high fever. Nothing stands out not a whole lot of info to go off of. When you find out let me know what it is and the rationale. Thanks, Eric
  8. Did any one receive acceptance into Marquette's Direct entry to MSN program?
  9. Kim, Wow you are an exceptional canidiate. You already have an MBA, teach college level classes that one would need to complete as prerequisites to be admitted into the program, and have around 15 years in the health care field. Thanks for the detailed response. I now have a better idea of how the process works. My application I feel has some positive and negative aspects. I graduated in Dec 2001 with a bachelors of art in business administration. I was a young immature 19 year old. My 1st year and a half was subpar and I finished with a 3.04 gpa. I had to take the GRE since my gpa was under 3.2. I was focused on getting As on my prereqs and was working 12 hour shifts on the weekends and crammed for only 3 days. I dont excel at standardized tests to begin with I got math 430 verbal 400 writing 4.0. Well that is the negative part of my application I dont think that Marquette weighs the GRE heavily, Hopefully? The positive part is that I already am a LPN and have been so for almost 2 years working in assisted living and LTC. My LPN gpa was exceptional 3.76 in an acclerated program. I received all AS in my prequisite classes at the community college for the past 3 semesters. Im not sure where I stand but this is definately my applications strength. I will still be stalking the mailman and crossing my fingers and not giving up hope. Thanks, Eric
  10. Congrads I 2 have applied 2 the direct entry MSN program . I have been hovering around the mailbox awaiting for the mail 2 arrive. I know that admisssion is competitive they accept like 32 out of what they expected like 100 applicants. Was the acceptance letter in a small envelope or a large one? What did u do in your prior life? Eric
  11. Is there anyone out there awaiting decision letters from Marquette University for their direct entry MSN program that starts in may 2007?
  12. It never fails that when working in LTC an admission will arrive at around 230 pm 30 minutes before shift change. As the am nurse u should try to contact the physician to confirm orders and try to write out the MAR and POS and fax and call phramacy to make sure that the medications can be sent ASAP. The assessment and documentation forms, TB and misc stuff is usually completed by the PM nurses in this situation. Its just the reality of nursing
  13. I personally have only seen orders for Flagyll when a patient has C-Diff
  14. Vicodin 5/500 is 5mg hydrocodone and 500 mg acetominophen. The maxium daily dose of tylenol is 2000mg over this dosage increases the chance of hepatic dysfunction. If you administer a vicodin 500mg it is close to the 650mg dose of tylenol PRN order.
  15. Dear lilmeeper123, Thank you very much for all your responses to my questions. I feel better knowing that u think I have a good shoot at being accepted. If accepted I will definately go on a tour at the university.
