Marquette Direct Entry MSN 2018

Published

Hey guys, I didn't see a thread for Marquette's direct entry MSN program for fall 2018 so I figured I'd start one. I just submitted my app for the PP location today for their spring admission, but I am also applying to Marquette's traditional program for fall 2018. Do they review applications based off date submitted or date verified?

Hope to start school with some of you soon!

I'm in a similar situation, but reversed. I have accepted admittance to a grad program starting January 22, but am still waiting to hear back from the Milwaukee site on an admission decision. I was told further admission offers wouldn't be going out now until after the holidays, and I have a feeling if I am offered admission, it won't be until late January/early February, in which case I'll have already started my grad program. Milwaukee is my top choice so I'm torn. They have until mid-March to send out admission offers. I asked how many seats were filled, and I was told less than half of the cohort has been filled at this time.

becominganRN22, I just had my professor email Karen my final grade

Yeah my deposit is also due the 6th and while I find out if I get an interview for another of my top choices the first week of January, I don't want to rely on getting in, which I would find out mid February. If I go to Marquette I will have to move 5 hours away while I could just stay in my current apartment if I attended the other school so it's not only the deposit, it delays my search for housing.

How long do you get before you have to send in the deposit?

I had about 2.5 weeks to decide (not sure if that's the standard or not)

Yeah that sounds about right. I was given 3 weeks.

Hi everyone! I'm in a similar position where I was accepted into the May cohort but wanted to wait on other schools before for sure deciding if I will be moving to Milwaukee. I received my acceptance letter at the beginning of December and they only gave me a week and a few days to decide! I was able to take a visit that same week where they gave me a tour and etc. I liked the campus and they were very accommodating but it just would be a huge move for me (I would be moving from California). Everyone advised me to submit my deposit anyways so I still keep the option. I wanted to apply to USF but their deadline isnt until mid-January. Does anyone else have experience sending a deposit to a school and then deciding later they did not want to attend? Would I just email Taylor if I end up doing this? If i do decide to go, I hope to meet all of you in the cohort! This decision dilemma has been tearing me up :(

I think many people end up submitting the deposit and deciding ultimately where they want to go after they hear back from other places. From my understanding, I think we would just let our adviser know. The downside is just losing the 500$ deposit if you don't enroll. I understand why they do it, but I don't know, I feel as though if they were confident in their program they'd allow everyone to decide that Marquette is definitely the right place for them as opposed to putting candidates in a tricky financial situation.

Hello-

Does anyone know how much tuition is for the 18-month program? And also if we decide to do a post master's directly after, how long does the midwifery certificate take? And how much does that cost?

From my understanding after talking with one of the Midwifery professors after I visited, the 18month program is about ~55k excluding books and other expenses which will prob be another few thousand. The Midwifery program takes about 2 years if taken full time but it's interesting to note that we would graduate the 18 month program in December and the post masters for midwifery wouldn't start until the following Fall so we would have almost a year inbetween. The midwifery program would be about ~33k.

The tuition for the DE MSN program is $50k, per the school website. That's just straight tuition. I'm not sure what the pre-reqs are for the post-master's certificates though, their website is very vague. But I was interested in the acute care NP post-master's which is an additional 21 credits I believe. I assume those admit both in the spring and fall semesters. Is the midwifery program not offered as a post-master's certificate?

Hey everyone!!

Where did you receive your acceptance letters? Was it an email or on the supplemental app page?

Also, do you know when final decisions will be sent out?

childsplay My acceptance came through the supplemental app page shortly before Thanksgiving and they sent me an email telling me there had been an update posted to my application. It seems like they are doing admissions in a few separate batches based on when the applications were submitted, so they will probably continue doing that for another couple of months as students accept/decline offers
