Hi! Any Marquette hopefuls this app. cycle? I'm a little ahead of the game here but am too excited not to be =0) I'm applying to the CNM track!
Seltsi--just rented a room for the year here...they are really nice and literally a half block back from the union (which is right across the street from our nursing building) ...the landlord is a great lady too....if you need a place...give her a ring/email!!
"By 2015 all new NPs will need to be trained at the doctorate level as a Doctor of Nursing Practice."
..I'm sure a lot of you have heard about this...Kind of a silly question--but do you think all of us in this 2012 DE MSN program will make that cut off to be NPs without doctorates?
There have been a bunch of threads on this topic, and lots of articles online about it. Here is the link to one: https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-discussion/what-will-happened-485555-page2.html.
Of course, everything is speculative. Basically, it seems that we will be grandfathered in IF it happens, but it also seems that nobody believes it will really happen. They have been trying to change the basic RN to a BSN instead of a 2 year degree for a while, and that hasn't happened either.

Hi vchri481, I was looking at an apartment on 17th behind the rec center with Schulhof Properties, which owns a bunch of campus apartment buildings, so it probably is the same woman! I tried to find reviews of the building online, but there was nothing. I did find a very unflattering review of Schulhof's management style on Yelp however, so I don't think I'll sign a lease with them. I've lived in NYC before and have learned to be wary of signing year-long leases before seeing a place, so I think what I will do is just get a summer sublet and find a permanent place once I get to know the area better. I don't think I'll have the time to go do a thorough scouting of campus buildings before the May start date.
Going with what vchri481 said, that 2009 thread I posted earlier about crime/safety for the Marquette campus said don't venture below 94 East to the south, beyond 25th to the west, or State Street to the north, but anywhere east is fine (will require a commute though). Since it's been 3 years since that thread was posted, I guess the update is don't go past 16th to the west.
