Ok Live, here we go...our new home LOL!!! I'm really glad you went to the info session, i knew you would get more info actually being there. Were there other students that were on the waitlist there? What 1/3rd did jaquie say you fell in? It is good news to know that they make it through most of the waitlist! I really want you guys to get in so we can have a connection with other people...i hate walking in a class and not knowing anyone LOL. So do you have most if your prereqs completed and was manch your first choice?

I found out from Jacquie today that I'm in the 2nd 1/3rd of the wait list. Still not going to let that bring me down but the waiting to see how quickly they get through the list is killing me! :)

I'm feeling the same way about the waiting. The list should start to move a bit after the deadline for the deposit. I just hope there aren't too many people holding themselves a spot while they wait for thier first choice to respond to them. A friend that attended nursing school a few years ago said there were a couple of students who weren't notified they got in until a week before classes started. Would be a great surprize but I'd prefer the summer to mentally and physically (getting books, uniform, money for tuition etc) prepare. I'm not that far ahead of you Julie and I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything so you'll know things are moving.

Thank you Jen I would appreciate that. I agree the sooner the better for planning purposes. That would be a lot of running around.

I think most of the schools have sent out there letters, so now its just a matter of time and shuffling around for the students to pick where they are going and free up seats they dont want. Just keep april 30th free just incase because i think they will even call and invite the top 10 people or so on the waitlist to the orientation just in case. Beside i will forward all the scheduals and book lists to you girls so you can look them over in case you get a late acceptance!! Hang in there, im still rooting for you both!

While we wait I've been searching this board and reading various threads..this one might be helpful

the question asked "soon to be nursing student what do I need"

So has anyone heard anything about uniforms yet. I heard someone saying that it was covered with part of your tuition but will we be able to buy our own scrub bottoms as long as their white? Or any news about what type of stethoscope or color of it or shoes or anything like that. I went to the book store the other day ad the lady there told me that we buy all our books for the whole 2 years all at once and that it was about 20 books and over $1000.

Hi LngbrdngOtr,

I'm not sure if it is included in tuition (I think not) but the scrub tops you buy at a store of MCC's choosing (they mentioned it at the info session). The top is green and the bottoms are currently white (though they are considering going back to green bottoms but that may not be for this year). You can buy whatever type of stethescope you want. Your shoes will need to be solid white (no clogs or crocks or the like) don't need to be nurses shoes can be sneakers. Yes the books are for the whole 2 years and cost about $12000.

At the last info session I attended they did mention a cookout they have over the summer with outgoing seniors and incoming freshman. The Seniors can sell their books and various shtuff and also offer coupons and ideas to the incoming freshman.

I'm sure you will get plenty more info on the 30th..just have to wait and enjoying knowing that your in!!

$12,000 or $1,200 for the books? I hope they do go back to green bottoms though. I also hope the books are not $12,000 because the only way I can afford that is if I win the lottery and thats hard to do since I don't have the dollar to buy the ticket.

In the handbook it has a break down of costs associated with nursing and it says 150 for uniforms and accessories, so no its not included in tuition. My question is since they pretty much made us take every other class and the nursing class is only 10 credits...does that mean we are not considered full time students...as far as scholarships and financial aid is concerned?

OMG oops amazing what an extra zero can do to a number $1,200 not $12,000 my goodness if books cost that much most of us wouldn't be able to buy them and if we did our bags would have locks and be chained to us at all times. LOL

I don't know about full time student status. The program is not a part time program so I don't see how you could be considered a part time student while in it.

Any news on the waitlist yet? Any movement?

You guys have given some great information...thank you!

no news yet..I imagine things will move a bit next week and then more after April 30th. I keep hearing the jeopordy theme song playing in my head...I don't like waiting. I wonder if they give people any time on the deposit or if it's not in by Friday the phone calls to fill that spot begin on Monday. No offense to those that may be late with paying up but that would be nice for those of us waiting that would be more than happy to run to the school at a minutes notice to give them a deposit for a spot.
