While it might not be necessary, in my opinion, as the cost is minimal, I have always msintained my own policy through NSO.

I used to get it because everyone said to, and the cost was minimal. I started to learn some things and saw some things that made me second guess that idea. Then, a few years ago read the linked to article above.

As a hospital-based nurse, I no longer buy it.

You may have a hard time finding recommendations of one company over another. You don't really have an idea how good your insurance is (any insurance) until you have to use it. And, very rarely has anyone been able to use their nurse malpractice insurance.
