Hi, I'm Erica, and I'm new here. I am considering going into nursing school in the Spring 2005 ( I missed the Fall 2004 deadline, icky!)
Anyways, I was just wondering where you got your malpractice insurance from and what were the costs???
Thanks in advance!!

I have Liability Insurance through the Nurses Service Organization. It's $20 a year for students. I believe you can sign up on their website at http://www.nso.com.
Oh, and by the way...WELCOME! :)

Hello,
Our insurance was offered by the school. It was $15. Welcome to the boards!

At my school, the Liability Insurance is included in the tuition. You have to have it.....there is no other option.

I agree, students shouldn't be without Liability Insurance - the trend in malpractice suits is to name EVERYONE who came within 50 feet of the patient.
I also got my coverage from NSO.
Those of you who posted that it was included in your tuition - I'm curious - is this individual coverage specifically for you, or for the group of students? Of course you're also named in the school's policy(ies) - they couldn't let you into the clinical area without doing so - they're also responsible for your actions.
Just curious ...
