Male Nursing swag

Nurses Men

Published

So I'm a brand new grad about to start nights in the ER. Obviously I'm excited about my new career and want to succeed with as much ease as is realistic. My question for you all is what kind of swag should I look to pick up. I know the basics (good shoes, scrubs, stethoscope, etc) but what are some things that I might not be thinking if that I might want. Also is there any place that sells male oriented nursing products? There are tons of female esque products out there but very few male. Thanks!

Wow man. Of course I'm concerned about patient care. This was a simple question from someone new to the healthcare world. It's much different in regards to attire and accessories then what I was in previously and was looking to, what I thought, was a message board for nurses to help others out.

Highly recommend getting a pair of Leathermen Raptor shears. They are foldable, have a belt cutter, ruler on the blades, and are heavy duty unlike the aluminum shears.

Frigo underwear are being advertised as being like having air conditioned shorts. These might come in handy for those heavy ER shifts.

My boyfriend is also a male nurse. He definitely loves the Cherokee Infinity Line of scrubs. I have to admit that they are pretty nice. Durable, comfortable, anti-fading and plenty of pockets!

OK, I know this is several years old post, but in case people are searching... Something no one else has mentioned, a cool gadget I started carrying once I left ER and joined the Rapid Response/Vascular Team, a foldable scrub pocket clipboard. Look up White Coat Clipboards. I keep our code record/ rapid response note pages on it.

#Hoka shoes if your gonna be on your feet 12 hours with minimal breaks. ER is fast paced and rarely do you get an uninterrupted break or a chance to sit down.
