Another newb. I am a 40 year old, USAF retired, and am now ready to do what I want to do. I have the support of lovely wife (who happens to be a nurse) and my three teens.

I hope to find myself in pediatrics when all is said and done.

    Hello Gentlemen,

New to the club... 40 years young, paramedic for eight years, firefighter for the last three. I hung it all up to begin an entry level masters family nurse practitioner program starting in a month.

Me too! 37 years young. 16 years as a Medic. Got my RN License back in January (BSN Program - 5 guys, 3 gals). Spent a few months in the ER. Have now been in the OR since June. It's great. Good luck to all.

Just finished and sat state finals three weeks ago for registration as an RN (hear back in one week). There were five guys out of 60 sitting in my class, which sounds about the norm.

48 y/o 2nd semester ADN student. 4 males in 30 students at local CC. I've already been courted by male recruiter to come to hospital after 2nd semester for nursetech position. Lot of male RN's on the MedSurg floor during our clinicals. It seems like the average of 5% males at community hospital is low. I think they are actively looking for male RN's.

I have been a RN in Texas for 12 years. When I went to school, there were only 6 males to 44 females. Hang in there guys.
