Magnet theme song...

Hi all,

So, I'm on the Magnet committee at my hospital, and we're trying to come up with a Magnet theme song. For our journey to Magnet it was "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

We've had Magnet status for about a year now. Any suggestions?

Remind me again why professional adults need a "theme song" as part of some program exploring the successes/shortcomings of a year-old initiative?

How about, " it's a lie". As they say, numbers don't lie but they make numbers.

This is an example of what a lot of us HATE about the Magnet movement. The program itself doesn't require this kind of cutesy, fluff stuff -- but some people invest WAY to much time, effort, and money on these kinds of things. They should be focusing more on the quality of the work environment provided by the facility for their employees and the quality of the nursing practice that occurs there.

These cutesy things cost money and time -- and are a distraction away from the real issues.

I support the actual content of the Magnet program itself -- but hate the way some hospitals have corrupted it.

Right on llg.

Thanks all for turning this into a negative thread re. Magnet. I thought there would be some negative replies, but so many?...

And kudos to those who were actually making an effort to help. We're just trying to promote Magnet awareness at my hospital; it's actually a good place to work.

Why can't the kid in the professional have a little fun with a song?

Professional doesn't equal sense of humor long gone.
