My hospital has recently achieved Magnet Status. My question is this, and the answers I get will reveal my other questions...
How did they show thanks, and 'reward" the ancillary staff of the hospital.... as in the cna's, surgical techs, etc?
For instance, our RN's got a real nice pin, a vest, an ice cream sundae bar, about a buck and change more per hour......

If they didn't receive anything, I'd share some of the loot!
ok lets start with this.... do you think they deserve the same as nurses?

If we finally get it, I guarantee, they won't give our nurses anything, especially a raise. We'll probably have another ridiculous popsicle party, like we do for hospital week (after ignoring nurses week).

I bet they got the same thing as the RNs, just in their own "color."
I am sick of owning all of the ancillary staff as part of the "nursing" staff. I have no idea what nursing assistants, PCTs, paramedics, EMTs have to do with me. The facility employs to perform separate job functions that are NOT in my opinion nursing functions (though a nurse can perform them as can theoretically a number of different staff but so what?). Why shouldn't they be proud to be in their own service and celebrate their own services accomplishments?
If the MDs were celebrating their accomplishments, it would be some swanky affair with an open bar and they certainly wouldn't be thanking the RNs for their part in it.
