to determine the ranking score: multiply the gpa by 25 then divide by 2
example 3.84*25=96 now divide 96 by 2 96/2= 48
now divide hesi score by 2
example 89 hesi 89/2= 44.5
now add 48 +44.5 and your ranking score is 92.5
so look at a lower gpa and higher hesi
gpa 3.71 3.71*25= 92.75 92.75/2= 46.375
hesi 94 94/2=47
add 46.375+47= ranking score 93.375
in the second example someone with a lower gpa, but a higher hesi score has a higher ranking score, you just have to do the math using the formula above.
Keep in mind, that although the computer does the calculation, the computer uses a formula to derive the answer. Think of it like a calculator, you input 2+2 and it gives you 4, well, it gave you 4 based on the equation (formula) that you input, you did not turn on the calculator and it gave you 4 out of thin air, you know. I hope this helps.

I know what the formula is. Even after calculating it I'm still ranked lower than someone with a lower composite score. Which is why I say there must be something more to it than just this formula.

According to Macomb's application process:

RANKING

All applicants whose documentation is completed by the deadline date are ranked according to the following criteria, and

available seats are filled in the same rank order.

The GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA) of the four pre-requisites (BIOL-2400 or BIOL-2730, ENGL-1180 or ENGL-1210, HHSC-

1040 and BIOL-2710) are computed and weighted at 50%. The composite score of the HESI Admissions Assessment Exam is

weighted at 50%. The composite score is the average score of the cumulative results of all five components of the HESI

Admission Assessment Exam.

Oh well, I will know Monday.

And yours was 86.63 right?

Did you look at the letter with your gpa on it? I thought the same thing but my composite on there says 90

After reviewing my G.P.A./Composite score letter, I think I understand the confusion.

Per my letter:

G.P.A. Used for Ranking: 3.8400

Composite Score Used for Ranking: 92

92 is my Hesi score which is a composite of: Reading Comprehension; Grammar; Vocabulary & General Knowledge; Anatomy & Physiology; and Math. The 92 on my letter is not my ranking score, it is the number that I divide by 2 and add to my gpa after I multiply it by 25 then divide by 2.

Case in point, my ranking score is 94, not the 92 on my letter (hesi score).

Therefore, G.P.A. 3.33/ Composite score 90 (Hesi):

3.33 *25=83.25/2= 41.625 + 45 (90/2)= ranking score 86.625

Why didn't I find this sooner?!! Hi Guys, My Name is Danielle. I was accecpted as an alternate. I was ranked 162, so that means I am the second alternate, which I think is pretty promising that I'll get in. I do have a couple questions if anyone knows....

1. If someone drops from the August Start date group, does that spot open up to people in the October, Januay and March start date groups first and then the alternates, or once students are registered for their particular start dates and someone drops from august, would the alternates jump in?

2.If any earlier start date than January or March are offered to an alternate, do they have to take it, or can they wait until January? I have all my Classes done for MCC's program but I would like totake the fall semester to get all my prereqs done for my BSN program I plan to take once I graduate from MCC, so I would prefer to wait until January, but obviously I would not want to lose an open spot if it came down to that.

3. Does anyone know typically how many alternates get in each year, and how much of a notice they get? I need to prepare myself!

I was so relieved to get the letter just to know that the wait was finally over, I knew it would be a close call for me bc I had a low grade in A&P, but I recieved no relief from the letter, becuase I am stilll waiting! lol

1. That is how it works. If someone from August drops, then everyone moves up a spot. As far as alternates go, if anyone drops from any start month, the alternate list moves. For instance, if two people drop, from any start month, then you're in.

Thanks! Im pretty pumped to be the 2nd alternate. Although it was bitter sweet when I opened the letter because I was only 2 away to being In for good, but still kinda felt like the 2nd loser... lol.

Im just excited to go to orientation and get this ball rolling :)
