hi, peachy2! gee! i hope you feel better soon. i had a friend that got bell's, but with steroids she was better in about a week. i did a search for lyme disease on medline plus. here is the link. i'll let you explore the links that are listed at that page. there's plenty of information for you to check out on lyme's.
I recently developed Bell's Palsy because of a tick bite that I found on myself in May. I did not get the bulls-eye but I developed a high fever and started on an antibiotic. The right side of my face has gotten weaker and I cannot close my right eye. At night, I have to tape it shut since I do not want to scratch my cornea. Has anybody else been through this? I have 11 more days of my antibiotic and I hope to return to work soon. Thanks for any hints or thoughts on this subject.:
In New England, we take Lyme's Disease very, very seriously because it is so prevalent, and most of us know at least a few people who have had residual effects even after treatment. Do read the link suggested by Daytonite. If you continue to have problems after treatment, please seek help from experts in that specific disease field.
My spouse contracted it twice. The last time from picking daffodils for me.
Did I ever feel bad about that one. Fever of 106, deathly ill the first time, it's very scarey, and all from one tiny tick.
The worst cases were of those who never realized that they had been bitten until years later.
It's sometimes hard to convince docs to test for this without direct evidence, you know. My hairdresser's son got it from a tic hidden on their Christmas tree! Only his mother's instincts and insistance on testing him, after seeing him falling asleep in class day after day, got him tested and treated (she asked three different docs).
Good luck, and I sincerely hope you recover fully.
Hi!
I contracted Lyme's when I was 10 and they did not diagnose me until I was 12, since I was the 4th documented case in MO. I don't remember all the details, since I was a kid, but I read my med reports and it said something about Bell's Palsy. I have no lasting effect of Bell's now, and don't remember having it as a kid. It must have been very transient. I remember a lot of fatigue and joint pain. I also have some residual CNS effects, due to the late diagnosis but it sounds like you are right on track with your antibiotic. I hope all works out well for you.
