LVN Student- Will I get my License?

U.S.A. California

:cry:When I was 18 I got into some stupid trouble. I gave a friend a ride home from work (at the mall...) and turns out, he had stolen quite a few things I guess from a department store there. His box of stuff was in the back of my car.... so, we both were arrested and I was cited for possession of stolen property since the officer didnt believe that i couldnt have known it was stolen. after numerous court dates and a lawyer, i was able to lessen the charge to a misdemeanor, pc 484 (i think?) which is petty theft... which doesnt really fit the situation but i was trying to take anything and it was starting to look like that was my only option. so after that, about 8 months later i went to school to become a cna. i passed my certification but when it came time to get my certificate in the mail, i got a letter instead that said i was denied. i completed all my community service and everything and then i had my charge expunged. so now i dont have anything on my record. i am going to be done with my lvn program in 10 wks and people have been telling me that even though ive cleared my record, the fact that i applied for a cna and was denied will stop me from becoming an lvn. does anyone know if this is true?

Did you apply for the CNA when the charge was still on your record? My advise would be since you have already started and about to finish the LVN program, continue and graduate. When it comes time to send papers to the board be honest with your passed record (even if it was expunged), there was a student in our class that had a simular situation and the DON said to list it on background papers. As far as I know this student was apporoved and passed boards..... Good luck.....

We are unable to offer legal advice here. Each case is determined on its own merits and we recommend that you speak directly with the Board that handles the LVn licenses. They are the only ones that can make a determination in your case.
