lvn-rn online

Which lvn-rn or lvn-bsn programs are accepted in texas? I just found out indiana's isn't and im' trying to see which all ones are. Thanks

I have been researching the same thing. The only Texas Accredited one is San Angelo (that I have found)You go through the college network. Its a new program and the nursing classes dont start until Summer 2010, but you can be taking your prereqs. I am kinda IFFY about the College Network thing. Has anyone out there been through their program?

Excelsor also has a program but its very expensive, not Texas accredited only Texas recognized. and EVERYONE that I know who has taken it fails the 1,500.00 skill test.

where is the indiana one actually accepted? For instance could I do it here in texas and pass it and then move to another state that it's accepted in and take the nclex? I'm not planning on staying in texas so that would work for me lol.

If its Excelsor then I think its in New York. I know the College Excelsor uses is in New York ,but I dont remeber the name of it. Its all so exhausting. Just make sure whichever state you plan to practice in will accept them. Call that states BON. Once you sign that contract your locked in. Best of Luck !!

first thing is excelsior is accepted in texas and it is not as expensive as one may think...just kind of sounds that way i guess if you dont know the in's and out's...however, i have a aas and a bachelors degree and i just finished the excelsior program last week ...it cost me about 4k give or take some dollars..now excelsior is not online it is a self study test out program with a clinical exam in the end that last 2.5 days... this test if prepared for correctly then you will find it is just basic nursing skills... you can by no means walk into this test unprepared relying on your nursing skills as a lvn or paramedic and pass this thing...there is no way...if you prepare correctly and know what you are preparing for then you can walk right through it just like i did last weekend....the test is $1900 not $1500...

let me explain how texas works as far as out of state programs..as of right now (there is talk of change) the policy is if it is accrediated in the graduating state then it will be accepted in texas...texas does not accrediate or regulate any programs outside of the state...you can look this up on the website...

do not go through the college network or anyother publishing company...i am almost 100% sure you can get around not using them..i know you can with isu and ec....

good luck to you ...

Ok so my big question is then, if i do the Indiana program can i take the nclex in texas and become an rn in texas and use the degree to go onto post graduate school to become a CRNA?

You could get your Associate Degree in Nursing through Excelsior College(many people have successfully), take NCLEX and practice as an RN in Texas(The degree is accepted by many other state boards as well, offering you many mobility options). You could then get a Bachelors Degree in Nursing through Indiana State, University of Phoenix or another RN to BSN program if you desire advanced practice or to pursue a Masters Degree in Nursing. You have many options and depending on how quickly you want to begin working as an RN, whether or not you need to work while furthering your education and how much money you want to spend on your degree(s) the choices are yours. Much success to you!

I spoke to a very nice woman at the Texas BON and she told me TX will accept ISU's degree and you will get licensed in TX as a RN. As long as Indiana accepts it, TX will....... The problem I would think is to get a preceptor in TX because I doubt much people are going through ISU in that state.
