I'm looking into the LVN program at Western Career college but I want to make sure it is an accredited program. They also have an RN program that you could attend once you have completed the LVN, which I'm planning on pursing. Each program is a 2 year. Has anyone atteneded and graduated from WCC and had trouble finding a job or was not able to take the state board exam? I have an orrientation on Monday and I dont want to get sucked into something that may not be worth it!!
Hey Guys,
Did any of you (who applied to Kaplan's LVN in Sacramento) recieve a call for an interview yet? I took and passed the HESI about 2 weeks ago but haven't recieved any calls yet.....just wondering if you know anything about the interviewing thing? Any info. will be highly appreciated :)
Hello everyone!! ok so for kaplan in sacramento... The bvnpt is visiting the school this whole week to give a final approval so hopefully they get accredited. After that then they will call people to start interviewing if they get accredited. If they don't get accredited then there wont be a class. hope this helps. ttyl!!!
Yeah that's probably why. They admit students
until they get the okay that they have the acredidation. They have
the approval to have the first class which is in session right now
but if they don't get the accredidation it's a no go. Which is kinda
sad, especially for the current students because they won't be
able to sit for boards.
Plaza- you should call kaplan in Stockton to see when the board is
visiting the campus so you'll have a time frame
on when they will call you.
Sorry for any typos i'm writing from my iPhone. Lol
Hello everyone!
I called WCC today to get info about the LVN to RN program. The representative told me the program would be 9 months if you have completed the prereq's. It could be longer if you don't have the prereq's. I didn't ask about the price. If I understood correctly, you don't have to be an LVN to apply for the program. If you have the prereq's you could finish the RN program in 18 months. Do you think the price is worth it not to sit on a waiting list?
I know someone that goes to kaplan right now. I don't know about Western Career College, but I know Kaplan in Sacramento is a HORRIBLE place to be. Here is the schedule M-F 9-3 or 4 depending on schedule. Clinical start at 6AM and you can be placed 60miles away from your house for clinicals and they expect you to be there ready to work at 6AM. Yes that means you have to wake up as early as 3:45am to go to clinicals. They are so NOT ACCOMMODATING! How could they want their students to succeed if they are doing this to them??? All the students there have families and kids. Who can take this kind of torture? Worst of all, when you realize you are in the wrong place you have already wasted $6000 and you either throw that money away or suck it up and be degraded for 8 more months. They treat you like you are stupid and talk to you like you are stupid. Granted the instructors are good nurses but they are not good teachers. The curriculum is really ridiculous. They charge $28000 for the whole program and treat you like you are nobody. They don't tell you where the clinicals will be or what time they start, and when you find out that it doesn't work for you its too late! I heard really bad things about unitek and Western career too. I think it is worth it to go to a trade school and avoid the waitlist for 3 years but you have to decide if you could be tortured and degraded after paying them $28000. This is just the honest brutal truth.
