LVN NCLEX Challenge

Please advise- I'm really distraught.....

I spent the last 18 mos of my life dedicated to become an LVN. I sacrificed much of my time away from my family. Unfortunately, for me and a couple of other students... we didn't pass our final. The most depressing part is that several question that we got right were thrown out which hurt us and saved one....

Is there anyway that we (the students who didn't pass the final) can challenge the boards? We were told that technically we didn't finish the program...which isn't making any sense to me. I took the final I got a D. I have completed all the required clinical hours for the program.

If anyone can help me at this point I really would appreciate it.....Thank you.

Welcome to the site. I moved your post to the California Forum, although I don't know of any state that allows a student to take the NCLEX without completing his/her program.

Sorry, but you need to complete your program and have a completed set of transcripts to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam. There is only one exception to this rule in CA, and that is if the person were a medical corpsman in the military, they can challenge the exam. But that result is also good only in CA, and cannot be endorsed to any other state. And that is the only exception in all cases.

They require that you complete all of the required courses, even for those that are in the RN program and wish to write the PN exam; they must pass all of the required courses that are needed for that license.

If you did not pass the program, you cannot sit for the exam. A "D" is not considered a passing grade in the course. Remember that you need to complete the clinical as well as theory hours to meet the requirements for licensure.
