I am a new LVN. I am looking for a job and eager to start work and get right into an RN program weather is be ADN or BSN. It seems nearly imposible to become a nurse in CA so that's why I'm opting for both however my end goal is a bsn. My question for everyone (newbies and seasoned) should I not even bother trying to find a bridge program and go straight into a BSN? I know the cheaper way is to do a bridge but like I said earlier I want to be done sooner rather than later. I don't want to be on wait list forever. The issue is that there are limited bridge programs in private schools. Would I be a complete idiot finding a BSN program to start that's not a bridge? Thank you for any replys!!

I assume you do not live in California's Central Valley, because there is a private RN bridge program that seems more reasonably priced than the rest of the trade schools. If you're willing to move to Visalia, there's San Joaquin Valley College. The program is a little pricey, but it is nowhere near the $100,000 that some other private RN bridge programs are charging for tuition.
Or, you could slowly take prerequisites, do very well in them, and wait to get admitted into a cheaper RN program that is being offered at a public college or university.

I also had this choice. The TADN program I am in is from JAN-AUG and the bridge to BSN after that is 2yr part time or 1yr full time. The closest private school that will accept an LPN as credit will waiver the first semester of the RN program which makes it 3 1/2yr. I would recommend getting your ADN first and working part time so you don't go into debt.
Thank you both for the feedback. I wish becoming a nurse was easier but then again I know I will appreciate it more after all the effort.

Hi Josh ... I didn't understand what a TADN is. And do you live in California? I'd love to know the name of your program and where you are taking it.
Thanks so much
