  1. I also had this choice. The TADN program I am in is from JAN-AUG and the bridge to BSN after that is 2yr part time or 1yr full time. The closest private school that will accept an LPN as credit will waiver the first semester of the RN program which makes it 3 1/2yr. I would recommend getting your ADN first and working part time so you don't go into debt.
  2. I took all of my pre-reqs at a community college because I was told by advisers that most tech school credits do not transfer. This was do to the way that credits were awarded. At community college, my classes ranged from 2-6 credits. My tech school gave credit hours. Which to this day I still don't understand why they used that system. Basically every hour spent in clinical or in class I was awarded an hour. Even after sending my official transcripts from one community college to another. I still had to apply for advance standing in which I had to go to my old school and retrieve all the syllabus(es/i?) from my science courses. The schools are about 40 miles apart, both and ADN nursing schools, and in the same state so I really don't know why there would be such a discrepancy.
  3. I work at a VA home as an on-call LPN. I'm a student so I work days or eves any day of the week I'm available. OT at my facility starts their day at 0730 and they leave no later than 1630. OT is staffed 7 days a week. Those hours alone are worth considering. There are over 40 nurses that work in my facility and maybe 1 occupational therapist. In order to make an informed decision, see if you can volunteer or job shadow and see which one fits you better.
