Just wanted to know if you had any suggestions for landing a job there? I have the name of the manager for the unit I am applying to. I was going to attempt to contact via email. Any suggestions would be great! Do you mind also sharing your experience so far? I graduated in Jan licensed in end of Feb. Have my PALS and ACLS. Three years of lvn experience. I am currently living in southern CA. I have family in Eureka though and love it up there.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I know a lot of people mentioned a fine/penalty for working for them however I do not work for the agency that they are contracted with now. I do work for another agency and am very aware of the consequence. Will their current nurses break this rule? I have no idea and do not want to know. I really appreciate these comments because now I know exactly what to ask. I have all these concerns but didn't exactly know how to form them in to questions. I also know for sure that they will be taking taxes out and I will fill out a w-2. A 10-99 is off the table.

My situation is that I have been offered a job caring for 2 brothers with Leuko dystraphy. That's all well and good but the family has decided to get rid of the agencey and do everything themselves and want me to work for them. I was wondering of anyone new what legal issues I would need to look out for. They said they will "become their own agencey". I want to know if anyone knows if it's even legal for me to work this way. I will be getting taxed but other than that I have no idea what my limitations are. If anyone can give me an idea I would really appreciate it. I am an LVN in CA and just became licensed in dec of 2009 so I am still understanding the way things work.

I am an LVN and do home health. The good thing about home health, as mentioned above, is that you can keep trying nurses until you find the ones you deem competent, caring, empathetic, or whatever it is you and your daughter are seeking. Also, because the attention is focused on only one patient in the home there simply isn't room for the patient to be ignored or neglected. Not to say that doesn't happen but it's rare and they are reported to the agency. Our nurses and caregivers have daily documentation that's required and an RN does visits and is available 24/7 to report anything. I think you will find it to be a relief especially because of the relationship you can develop with your nurses. I know my agencey tries very hard to send who they think would be a good fit for the client. God bless you for being a loving caring mother. Caring for a dependant adult is not easy.

Thank you both for the feedback. I wish becoming a nurse was easier but then again I know I will appreciate it more after all the effort.

I am a new LVN. I am looking for a job and eager to start work and get right into an RN program weather is be ADN or BSN. It seems nearly imposible to become a nurse in CA so that's why I'm opting for both however my end goal is a bsn. My question for everyone (newbies and seasoned) should I not even bother trying to find a bridge program and go straight into a BSN? I know the cheaper way is to do a bridge but like I said earlier I want to be done sooner rather than later. I don't want to be on wait list forever. The issue is that there are limited bridge programs in private schools. Would I be a complete idiot finding a BSN program to start that's not a bridge? Thank you for any replys!!

Hello Faeriewand I am a new LVN and was going to apply and walk in a resume to Paradise Valley Hospital. Can you tell me anyhting about it that would be useful? I was also wondering if speaking spanish was required. Do I even have a chance as a newly Licensed LVN? Any info would be fabulous and I thank you in advance.

I would first attempt to get over this issue before attending school again. I was 18 and still crying when I was told I had to encounter a needle or see any cutting or surgery. I was desperate to become a nurse so I researched exposure therapy and started making myself endure the uncomfortable feelings and reminded myslef I'm not hurt I just don't like this. I am not saying anyone should treat themselves if they have a disorder but I knew my reaction was mild and asked a therapist and so I attempted. U should start donating or volunteering at the blood bank and see if you cant suffer through it little by little.
