Lunches

I pack about 75% of the time. When I do, I will take a salad with grilled chicken and veggies (I bag it all up separately and then mix it right before I eat), sandwiches or wraps, cubed chicken and cheese, or leftovers from the previous night's dinner. If I'm feeling especially lazy or running late, I'll grab a Lean Cuisine and heat it up at school. I almost always bring fresh fruit and veggies, and sometimes trail mix or a granola bar for snack. Yogurt has been good too. When I'm feeling bored with the same old stuff I will eat out. The last hospital I was at had the BEST cafeteria and I ate there practically every day. I also gained about 10 pounds during that clinical rotation, so I wouldn't recommend that!

The only classes I have during lunch are my 2 clinicals. I will probably bring snacks and then eat when I get home. My 2 lectures are end right around dinner time, so I'll be home to make dinner then as well!

I bring oatmeal,a hard boiled egg,tuna,fresh fruits,veggies,leftovers,salad,nuts and I love popcorn!I.also love to bring soups and chili's during the winter months.I try to be as creative as possible so I don't get bored with the same old things over and over again.

bite-sized cheese cubes cracker assortment

mini low na pretzels Laughing Cow cheese and/or peanut butter

grapes and banana slices apple or pear slices

juice box jello cup

pudding or jello cup 2 or 3 mini chocolate bars

mini chef salad grilled cheese (wrap in several foil layers)

crackers thermos of tomato soup

drink fruit ??

egg salad sandwich frozen grapes (in a thermos) in cold drink like 7up

veggie assortment/dip melon bites on a toothpick

pretzels veggie assortment

hard boiled egg cut into wedges

I have blue ice

I use a blue thing that you microwave and it keeps things hot

I have 3 sizes of small thermoses

I have baby wipes in my reuseable lunch bag

I reuse sandwich boxes and salad bowls

I always kept tuna salad, ham salad, chicken salad cans in my locker

I always had Luna and Clif high protein bars in my locker as emergency back-ups

Use my ideas as jumping off points and go from there.

Thermos is a brand name. So maybe Thermos containers. Like Target. I went to 3 Target store to find by 5 Thermos containers. I don't know. Google it.

Good thread! This semester will be my first of NS and we have 3 days of classes from 8am to 3 pm with only 15 minute breaks, until the start of clinicals in October. So bringing lunch is a must! I have no clue what to pack so this has been helpful.
