I am so sick of working in LTC.
There isn't any other jobs here for LVN's that are not in LTC.
I work with some really filthy mouthed, cut throat, and ruthless nurses. I can't report them, been there done that and that got me nowhere but making the situation worse.
Everyone is out to get the other one fired and there's just nothing but total chaos at this building. Everytime I turn around I am having to write up witness statement's for CNA's and other nurses. All I want to do is go in and do my job which is patient care, not this other bs.
But, I don't want to go to another building because this has been the same every other building I have worked at.
I'm bridging over to RN and I need the steady income for mortgage and bills. It's not like I can take a different position somewhere for less.
I just want some peace in my life and not to feel so anxious, resentful, and depressed when I get off work everyday.
Give me some healing words ya'll! I need them.

I'm assuming you have checked out clinics and doctor's offices, correctional, school nursing?
This too shall pass. I always said when I worked floor nursing that all I want to do is work my 12 hrs and go home.
I left floor nursing after a year. It wasn't for me and a burden was lifted as soon as I walked off the floor the morning of my last day.
Keep looking for new jobs...keep applying....call agencies....I work for Maxim Staffing in my area...they have tons of locations and are great to work for. Tell them what you want and don't want and they will do their best to find a job that fits you.
Hang in there!

Not all LTC are equal in the amount of BS they contain, but many contain BS nonetheless. The foul mouths really irk me more than any gossip, gossip is something I became accustomed to in Nursing school, so I brush it off. It's very tame considering some things I have heard of here on AN. Mostly related to the "club", drinking, and people acting like fools..
You have a goal, to finish your RN. Along the way you have to pay to eat, live, drive etc, you have bills to pay. Your RN is your finish line, and these things like bills, BS in the workplace, etc, are the hurdles you jump over on your way to the finish.
Like any runner will tell you, keep your eyes up and focused on the finish line. Jump those hurdles and do not look back, look ahead. :)

I switched to home health to get he schedule I wanted and to have no co workers. It's just me, the client, the family, and very limited contact with my agency. If you don't mind working with kids, it's a lot of fun.

All LTC is NOT the same. I went from a place like the one you describe to one where they are so strict you think you're back in school. No fingernails or polish, NO cell phone in the building at all, no cursing, no big earrings, no tattoos, the list goes on. Very conservative. Keep looking, you can find a nice place!

Sounds like the place you work is just plain toxic. I know it probably pays more than a doctor's office or other options which you need to survive. If you can suck it up until you complete the RN, that's great. If it is not tolerable for that long, you are going to have to see how you can adjust your finances to do something else or take out more in student loans. It's so hard to have to work in those conditions, especially when you are trying to go to school and succeed at that plus go home to your family with a happy face. Sorry to hear you are having such a bad time. It is true that not all LTC is like that, maybe there is some other facility? If not, may the force be with you. Best wishes and happy happy thoughts...rainbows, puppies, fluffy clouds, four leaf clovers... HUGZ!!!

All I can say is I know how you feel. Have you tried a staffing agency? Or HHC?
