Hi. I am applying for entry to LSU's CARE program for my Accelerated BSN degree in August 2008. I am just getting ready to send my application off, and was wondering if anyone here has done this program, or is currently enrolled in it.
Mainly, I'm curious about the admissions standards. I have always been a very good student, and maintained above a 3.5 in college. I also have an advanced professional degree in another field. I am hoping these things will make me an attractive candidate for the school. I am curious how competitve the program is, especially for someone who is not a Louisiana resident.
Also, I'm wondering what the program is like. I know that it's got to be pretty intense if it wraps up all the nursing education into 18 months. What is a typical schedule like? How many hours a day and things like that?
I'm really excited about this opportunity, and looking forward to reading any responses here. Also, if anyone is currently applying as well, I'd love to connect with you so we can bite our nails together.
I just called LSU nursing to ask when the CARE program acceptance letters will be going out and they said today!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were mailed today!!!!!!! That was at 2:30!!!!
I live in Mid-City New Orleans.....so hope to know in the next couple of days!!!!!!!
I have my hopes up a little, but will be OK if i don't get in this time.......
Lets keep each other posted...fingers crossed!

Yes, thank you for updating us!! I'm in Kenner, so surely I'll get something by Friday or Saturday! But, dangit, I'll be out golfing all day Friday and at Jazz Fest on Saturday so I won't be able to stalk the mailman!
I can only hope I'll be partying to celebrate and not hanging around drowning my sorrows. LOL
Fingers crossed for everyone here!
On another note, I have a question about transfer credits.
If someone has taken A &P I at Delgado, will that count for either one of the first semesters classes?
Just wondering...
I read in last years posts that some people were receiving emails or phone call notifying them that they were accepted prior to receiving the letter.
Any emails or calls?
From the curriculum page:
*If Anatomy (4 hours) and Physiology (4 hours) have been completed in the prior degree, students may be given 4 credit hours of Anatomy only. I'm not certain but I don't think A&P I counts as sufficient hours. I wonder what happens if you have A&P I&II... hmmm. Otherwise it just counts as a pre-req. For me, A&P I is my biology w/lab. A&P II is just... insurance.
And I haven't received an e-mail. Or call.
Hey Everyone waiting for your letters...just a little tid bit of info to calm your nerves if you havent heard anything and you know others that have...I was just accepted into the Traditional BSN program 2 weeks ago and LSU sends their letters of acceptance and denial in a very random way...they dont all necessarily get mailed on the same day, whether acceptance or denial althought I heard the denails were generally received before the acceptance. Also, I had heard they mailed ours on a Monday, whereas my letter was dated on the Tuesday and not mailed from them until the Thursday. I got the letter on Good Friday. Also, my letter was not sent to my "mailing address" that I put on my application, it was sent to my permanent address which is my parents house so I stalked the wrong mailman the entire week haha. Also, check your email that you put on your application bc some people got acceptance emails saying their official letter would be mailed that day. Good luck to you all, I know the feeling I literally didnt sleep pretty much the entire week haha!

Well, honestly, my 1st choice remains OLOL's accelerated ADN in 10 mos. As far as tuition, I tend to lean on financial aid, but OLOL is attractive to me bc they contract you w/ the hospital & repay your tuition, but I have heard of other hospitals in the area giving tuition reimbursement. I was just looking for plan B & C if OLOL doesn't take me...Thanks for the advice.
