Hi. I am applying for entry to LSU's CARE program for my Accelerated BSN degree in August 2008. I am just getting ready to send my application off, and was wondering if anyone here has done this program, or is currently enrolled in it.
Mainly, I'm curious about the admissions standards. I have always been a very good student, and maintained above a 3.5 in college. I also have an advanced professional degree in another field. I am hoping these things will make me an attractive candidate for the school. I am curious how competitve the program is, especially for someone who is not a Louisiana resident.
Also, I'm wondering what the program is like. I know that it's got to be pretty intense if it wraps up all the nursing education into 18 months. What is a typical schedule like? How many hours a day and things like that?
I'm really excited about this opportunity, and looking forward to reading any responses here. Also, if anyone is currently applying as well, I'd love to connect with you so we can bite our nails together.
I have the 10:30 spot tomorrow. I am wearing a dress, instead of a suit. I hope to see some of you and meet you. 6th floor, right? And, to answer your questions, yes, I am nervous - but in a good way. Where are you all going to park? Is anyone meeting up before the interviews begin? if so, where?
For some reason, emails to this thread had stopped until yesterday. I am so glad to be reconnected!
Hey I hv the 10th ...what about you?
I am Thursday the 15th.
Good luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow. And please post this weekend about what you thought about the whole process.
Anyone want to get together sometime between the 14th and the 16th? Anyone looking to share an apartment? Yeah I am sure hopeful aren't I.
I actually have 4 appointments to view apartments the day I fly in which is the day before my interview.
Again good luck to all!!
LRMama, don't sweat the small stuff! You are not the first person to feel like they didn't pull it together for the interview and at least 2 of the people interviewing you know exactly how you feel because they were in the same spot 2 1/2 years ago. You would not have even made it to the interview if you didn't already have a lot going for you.
LRMama:
Don't sweat it! I thought I was a rambling idiot in my interview last year and here I am, deep in the trenches of CARE IX. You should've seen me! Talk about a mess! If you're like me, you overanalyze yourself and try to pick out anything bad. They know you're nervous and, no matter what kind of advice you get, there's really no way to prepare for something like this. It's crazy how nervous you get when you feel like your future is riding on one thing.
I wasn't there, but I can say, without a doubt, that you weren't the only one there shaking and nervous. I was leaving class today, riding in the elevator, and the guy CARE VIII was escorting up looked like he was about to pass out. The other gal with them looked green. Not saying this as a bad thing, just saying you weren't alone. If you were either of those people, I was the beat up looking chick who hadn't realized the elevator was going down instead of up and I wished you "good luck" when you got off on the 3rd floor (it was about 10 am and I'd been up studying for an 8 am exam). LOL!
Thank you beejaycee and cpkrn2b2011, it is just that I will be crushed if I don't get into LSUHSC care. My mind just went blank in the interview. Apparently at that moment the ability to form coherent sentences eluded me. If my gpa was stronger I wouldnt be so stressed. I was hoping to wow them in the interview. All I can do at this point is hope for the best.
Cpkrn2b2011, I actually was leaving the building at around that time. So we may have passed one another.:)

As far as I know, they called alphabetically, so I'm at 10:30. What are you wearing?:)
