Hey guys...I started the LSU Fall 2013 Thread and got wait listed :unsure:... haven't heard anything back from them except that all their spots are full. So I'm getting ready to apply for their spring semester. For the rest of the folks who got wait listed with me let's get to making things happen for spring! I welcome any advice or pointers. I also went through the whole interview process, if anyone has anything to share or any questions please don't hesitate to post.

This forum is pretty awesome. I just have a few questions if anyone wouldn't mind answering them. I'm applying for Fall 2014

1. Say you did rather poorly in a pre-req class and took it over does LSU take the higher grade instead or do they average both grades?

2. Just to clarify they only look at your pre-req courses in regards to GPA or overall? I did poorly in English I :( but I'm retaking it this semester so I was really worried about that. Then I also have like a C in Algebra...but all the other courses are As.

3. HESI test do you take it at the LSUHSC facility or somewhere else?

4. Anyone know the average age range of people applying?

Hello FutureRNAsh,

1. They will take the higher grade between the two. Say if you took Bio 1201 and got a C the first time and then retook it and made an A. They will take the A to calculate your GPA.

2. They only look at your pre-reqs when calculating your GPA.

3. You take the HESI test at a Prometric facility. The facility is not at LSUHSC. If you live in Baton Rouge, the facility I took the HESI exam was on Sherwood Forrest.

4. The average age varies year to year. Whenever I applied, the age ranged from 18 to 40ish. Age really doesn't matter, especially in the nursing profession. The only thing the admission committee looks at if you are applying to the traditional bsn program: GPA, HESI score, interview, and personal statement.

Hi all I applied for the Spring 2014 semester and I am getting nervous because I haven't yet gotten a call about an interview. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to call? I have a 3.9 GPA and I got a 92 on my HESI so I think I am in pretty good shape but i have heard nothing from LSUHSC. Has anyone who applied for Spring 2014 heard anything?

Hi everyone! It's my first time posting on the board. I have a previous bachelor degree in English Literature, but I've always wanted to be a nurse so here I am! I considered doing the accelerated program but decided to do the traditional instead. Anyone else on the board have a similar story? My friend(who also applied for Spring 2014) and I have both not heard anything. I'm not worrying yet. Although my heart skips every time my phone rings!
