The interview process wasn't that bad surprisingly. Know the schools core values etc. just so you don't seem like you're spitting in the wind. Over all I think if you are passionate enough and you know why you want to be a nurse as the interview goes on you become more comfortable and confident in your answers.
@hellonewyear I honestly don't know which class has more applicants. For this Fall 2013 application process I was wait listed. I eventually got a letter saying that all their spots were full (I guess no one declined acceptance). Just be persistent. I personally am using the wait list thing as a lesson and motivation. What are the things can I change on my application - for instance my HESI score was miserable the 1st time I took it I believe it was a 79 or something. I retook it and got a 88. So just trying to change the things I can control and using that to my advantage. I know this didn't answer your question directly but hope it helps. Good luck!
@lguid you can search previous threads and everyone kinda throws their numbers out there - HESI scores, Pre req gpa, overall gpa etc. The amount they accept change every year but I do know that the amount of applicants they have far exceed the number of spots available. For accurate numbers I recommend going to one of the information sessions. I did before applying. It was very informative. You can search the LSU website for any upcoming sessions. Hope that helps!
@ CMB1 I think you have a shot especially if you have a strong written statement and interview. I'm pretty sure the HESI score is weighed the least out of the other components of the application while your gpa is the most important. If you don't get in you can always retake the HESI and apply again for the fall. My HESI score is an 81 and my gpa is a 3.7. I talked to an adviser about retaking the test and she said there was no need to.
Hey Guys!
I finished my LAST and official class needed before I apply to the BSN program at LSU this summer and I'm BEYOND relieved because I just found out today that I earned a B in the class. *Happy Dance!* So, I'm currently applying for the Spring 2014 program. I just took my HESI yesterday, and I didn't have a huge amount of time to study. Between my full time 9-5 schedule at work, and my summer class in between work hours, having to do homework, study for tests , and finals.... yeah. That didn't leave me much time AT ALL. My final was literally last week from today, and my HESI was scheduled yesterday like I said. So that was only 6 days to study. I bought the Admission Assessment Exam Review, 3e by Elsevier. It was helpful with the little time I had to study, so I strongly suggest you all buy that. Keep note: LSU does not require a composite score! Meaning, you don't need to meet a certain criteria or score. YAY!
Here's the disappointing portion of my comment. So I wasn't aware that you couldn't bring your own calculator to the HESI!!!! I took mine at Prometrics and I had to use their cheesy as$ calculator on the computer which STRONGLY messed me up. Reason being, I won't state my score.
Anyways, I completed 3/5 of the required materials needed for the application. I filled out my BSN Application, I took my HESI and had it sent to LSU, and today, I requested my transcript. BUT --- I just realized something about a hour ago... I forgot and told my school to mail it to them. LSU actually wants the transcript to be official and sealed to be included WITH the application. Also, LSU states "We are not responsible for guaranteeing the receipt of the transcripts sent directly to LSUHSC from another college or university". CRAP! I messed that up, so I'll have to go to my school on Monday and request a print out.
Next step I'm working on is the goal statement paper. Does anyone have any tips?!
PLEASE AND THANKS!!

Hey guys...I started the LSU Fall 2013 Thread and got wait listed
... haven't heard anything back from them except that all their spots are full. So I'm getting ready to apply for their spring semester. For the rest of the folks who got wait listed with me let's get to making things happen for spring! I welcome any advice or pointers. I also went through the whole interview process, if anyone has anything to share or any questions please don't hesitate to post.
