Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
Everyone who meets the admission criteria (2.8+ GPA, 16 of the 34 required pre-reqs completed, 2 pg. written statement, application, $50 fee, all transcripts sealed and stamped, HESI scores, ETC...!) is invited for an interview. Interviews for Fall 2011 are February 12 @ 9 AM and 2:30 PM?, and I chose the March 19 @ 9 am one because I live so far away and couldn't arrange w/ work to get off the 12th.
Unfortunately, just because you get an interview doesn't guarantee admission. It is certainly a step forward, they're interested to see what kind of qualified people are applying to their school!
I wore a dressy shirt and dress pants with heels. Understated jewelry. Don't dress like you would for the club or wear what you would for bed (or an 8 am class, for that matter!). Think business casual. However, if you want to wear a suit, go for it - I saw all kinds. These included someone in scrubs with tennis and someone in tight, shiny, capri spandex with 5 inch platform heels! Don't go overboard on smelly perfumes, lotions, etc. and don't wear overbearing makeup. I also saw someone wearing glitter and walked past someone wearing so much perfume that I wanted to die! DON'T!
You can't be too overdressed as long as you're "business-minded." If you even think you're on the "loud" side of dressing, tone it down a few notches just for the day. I don't know if any of the "loud" people were accepted, but just as a former interviewing professional, these are BAD things!
Just a question of curiosity for everyone who lives down there in the New Orleans area: Charity vs. LSU....which one is "harder" to get into, or better yet which one would a person IN GENERAL be more likely to get into? I've applied to both schools and ever since I've got an interview w/ LSU, I've just gotten curious. Honestly, I'd rather get into Charity for several various reasons, but I applied to LSU & LA Tech Nursing to keep my options open.
Got an interview call today, now normally I would be excited but seeing as how I'm a rollover applicant from last semester, I am a little ****** that I have to go through this again. I doubt that the questions changed and it's going to be a pain to drive to NOLA for a 15 min interview, because honestly my answers are not likely to change. I love Lsu but honestly the lady that called me had the worst attiude, fortunatley I have a plan B this semester because I will not be reapplying for a 3rd time if I don't get in. My advice is if you don't get in reapply but have other options because at the end of the day everyone gets the same degree. Good luck people but don't put all your eggs in one basket

I tried calling the student affairs office to see if I could find out how many people were going to be interviewed and the woman I spoke to wouldn't give that information out. How did yall find out the ratio? Did you know how many people interviewed or did you find out after you got accepted?
