Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
How long did it take for everyone to know about if they had an interview or not??
If we applied in early august I think we got the call about interviews either late august or early september. We found out we were in around halloween. Pretty much everyone gets an interview though as long as you qualify, meaning 2.8 gpa and havent gotten a D in the same class more than once.
I'm sure this question has been answered before, but does anyone know how much the HESI exam score counts towards your application? I got an 84.26% and I didn't know if that was a good or bad score. Or if it really mattered so much.
ur fine kleinlg. it was most likely the a&p section that brought you down and they expected that. An 85 is a decent score depending on what the class average was. The application percentages are on the school website

Hey goinghi, I was in your same position last semester so I know exactly how you feel. I had so many questions and after a while all I could think about was getting into nursing school. Take it from me tho... relax. Everything will be fine. I made myself crazy thinking about the interview and after the interview I calmed down a lot. The interview was a breeze. I think I overprepared for it. The questions they asked were why nursing, your two biggest accomplishments in life, who is your support system, how would you handle not getting the grade you thought you would get, such as a C or D, whose ethics do you most admire and why, describe a time in your life when you had to face racial, cultural, or social adversity and how did you handle it, why lsuhsc, what you plan on doing after undergrad and if you had any questions for them. It was really easy. You're going to be interviewed by two students in their senior year and a faculty member. The students ask most of the questions. The faculty member asked me what I wanted to do after undergrad. She sort of just supervised the interview and gave me tips for when I got in. The interview lasted maybe ten, fifteen minutes but you wont even notice the time go by. To me it was just like talking to my friend about why i wanted to be a nurse. Just be enthusiastic, smile, be natural. After my interview the two guys that interviewed me said I did really well and said they were impressed. Remember the people who are interviewing you have been in your seat before so they know you are nervous. No need to be intimidated. After my interview I pretty much knew I was in. It was a pretty long two months until i got my letter tho lol. Basically for the application, as long as you have at least a 3.2, have finished most of your prereqs, got at least an 85 on your HESI, and have a decent goal paper you have nothing to worry about. Just go and seal the deal with the interview. I think they have the actual precentages on the website of how much each part of the application is worth. Good luck with everything and I hope it goes by fast for you! If you have anymore questions don't be afraid to ask.
