Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
i got this email from the pho president today i hope it helpsfor anyone who applied and is still waiting to get their letter from the nursing school, please contact (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per tos) all the letters were mailed at the same time so you should have it by now. (moderator removal of name/email) or go see her during her office hours in 150 allen hall on tuesdays, wednesdays or thursdays from 930- 1130 and 2-4. if you need to go see/ email her please do asap! it's very important!!!
well that's good news for those who are still waiting!
ok, so i went and spoke with (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals per tos) this morning and she told me that all letters had been sent out, both acceptance and denial. however, i called the office of student affairs this morning at the lsu hsc and they told me that not all the letters were sent out and that they havent even sent out all of the acceptance letters! also, (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals per tos) told me that due to budget cuts they have so far only accepted 83 people and that she thinks the people who were accepted are done with all of their sciences. like i exceeded the requirements, but i am currently enrolled in microbiology, she said that even though it says you can be accepted while enrolled in micro, due to budget cuts, if someone was finished with all their sciences, even if they were less qualified, they were accepted over someone still enrolled, which seems unfair but we have to remember they are trying to fill all of the seats and if for some reason someone couldnt finish micro or failed it, it would be a wasted seat. like i said, she didnt say that the nursing school told her that about the sciences for sure, it's just what she thinks. hope this helps!

I also tried to call LSU HSC this morning. I didn't get much info other than that applications are still pending.
Did they give you any info about when we should know something?
About finishing classes.. I've completed all of my science classes and have a bachelor's degree, hopefully this helps me!
Kaitlyn,
You're so right. I totally agree. No two stories have ever been consistent with what they're telling us. We're all just waiting.
I know people who are in school there, nursing, med school, and pt school. everyone seems to think that it's disorganized, but somehow things always work out how they're supposed to.
I'm sure we will know something soon enough!
sarjan,
a friend told me that she called the school yesterday and they told her applications are pending and they are meeting this week to decide how many more will be sent out and they will be sent by the end of the week. but like kaityln said they keep giving different information, so who knows. but i know for sure (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per tos) said she thinks being done with the sciences is a plus.
I think i would just to give myself more options, but since im already at LSU-BR I can potentially finish a kinesiology degree with a minor in chemistry in 2 more years. after that I think i would try medschool, PA school, and nursing again. I think nursing would be my best choice though, especially because i want to get my masters in nursing education/administration.
But seriously i really think we will all get in, they are just stalling.
