LSU BSN Fall 2019

Published

Hi!

Wanted to open a thread for anyone applying for the Fall 2019 BSN program.

Anyone else?

What did y’all use to prepare for the HESI? and what did y’all score?

I used the pocket prep app and my notes on anything I didn't feel I fully understood. I only had a week to prepare and scored a 93. It really wasn't that bad.

Do all the tests in the app that apply to your HESI and take your time on the reading portion.

Brush up on roman numerals, measurement conversions (I memorized "The Big G") and write down the conversions you recall on your paper right away.

Study your chemistry ?

Hi guys! New to this thread and seeking some inspiration and advice!! Congrats to all those accepted!

I am applying for Spring 2020; currently I have a 3.7 but that’s for all my pre-reqs. I read on another thread that they only weigh the 16 credit hours required to apply, is this true?

Also, would you guys mind sharing your GPA’s and HESI scores.

I received an 81.2%....BUMMER!! I want to retest for a higher score but I’m super nervous.

A 3.7 and 81 is honestly really good. They weigh your interview and written statement highly as well.

I had a major mishap in my HESI exam. A&P was a testing section on my exam....I later found out that it’s not supposed to be on there. Which is what I thought when I saw it on my exam! Did anyone else have this error?

Hey, check your emails!

Compliance training is due tomorrow!

I didn't have that with my HESI.

I think you have competitive scores but if you feel like you want a higher score going in to application and feel comfortable retaking it, I totally would.

It wouldnt hurt, but I dont think it's necessary.

They only take the GPA of the required prerequisites.

Hi! My HESI score was a 90. I used the HESI Study Guide by Mometrix and did some test questions online. I definitely agree with @J_NurseyPants. I finished the test with at least one hour left so you should definitely take your time on the reading section. The passages are not super long, completely different from the ACT. Also, when it comes to retaking the HESI, just remember that they need to be 6 weeks apart from each other, you can only take the HESI twice during the application period, and they do NOT take the highest score. If you retake it, just make sure that you look at the areas where there needs some work. I know that on the HESI website, they show you what areas to work on. Oh and know your conversions and ratios! As for my GPA, it was a 4.0. However, also keep in mind that your application does not completely rely on your HESI score and GPA. The interview and writing portion is important too! And for the interview portion you have unlimited time to think about a question and have three tries to answer a question since it is online. And with those three tries, you choose when to start recording the tries.

@britt_futureRN I know someone that had a similar issue. She did a section that was not necessary for LSU. She emailed the director to let him know and he told her that would just we calculate the HESI score with the sections they need. Don't be afraid to email them!

I wish y'all the best!

@Jaz Mine Green @J_NurseyPants We should definitely start a class Facebook group! I don't have a Facebook account so I need to make one. But I won't know how to create a group lol.

Can we please?!!

Im nervous I am going to forget something important and would love to stay in the loop with everyone.

I agree! There is so much to do!

So who knows how to make a Facebook group?

Ill try! What should we call it?
