LSU BSN Fall 2014 Semester

Published

Hey everyone! I was a spring 2014 applicant, I received an alternate letter so I am crossing my fingers I have better luck this semester! I know everyone probably feels like a huge weight is lifted off their shoulders as today was the application deadline. But now the nervousness is kicking in! I created this thread because I figured we all need the moral support - or at least I know I do lol! I hope I can be of help to anyone who may have questions as far as interviews and the time frame of this process! Good Luck to all of you!! ;):)

Where do we get our urine/drug test done?

Is that part of the registration documents? I did not see that.

No, I just know we have to get a drug test, get fingerprinted, background check etc. I read it somewhere and someone in this thread mentioned it. If you go to the new student tab on the school of nursing website for fall 2014 they have a whole bunch of info and paper work that needs to be sent in. I'm just wondering if the school administers the drug test, if we have to get it done when we get fingerprinted (application on the LSBN website), or if we're supposed to go to a doctor and have them do it.

It's not due anytime soon. I'm just trying to understand. There's a lot to get done.

Today, I went into the office of students affairs to turn my acceptance fee in and the women at the desk said to me that there is plenty more letters being mailed out in the upcoming week so anyone who hasn't heard back yet, keep an eye out!

You will get information on that during the new student orientation. You will be required to go to certified background.com to get a background check and it's optional for the drug test or you can go to the TULANE clinic site they provide. The total cost for this will be $130.00 plus $62.50 for the LA board of Nursing. So have your money ready, but like I said we will receive the information in the new student orientation, so don't worry about it now.

You don't need to get your drug screen done until you start clinicals (which for you will be January 2015). Some clinicals sites require the drug screen to be no older than 6 months so it is preferable to do it as late as possible without being too late, if that makes sense. I'll be starting clinicals in August so I'll get it done over the summer. The school does not administer it; you have to go to a drug screening company and have it done.

The background check stuff will be completed when you go to your 3-day orientation. Our orientation was in December and I got cleared to enter clinicals on March 20 (yay!). For the fingerprinting, I had it done at:

Innovative Risk Management Services

2714 Canal St. Suite 102

504-309-2104

It was $20 - I would recommend getting it done before you go to orientation that way you can just turn the cards in with your packet for the background check.

Has anyone else received a letter or are there people still waiting like me?

Im still waiting as well!

Just waiting like you, and it's killing me.

I'm still waiting! Still have some hope y'all!

ugh still waiting

Has anyone heard anything new? The waiting is killing me! I'm trying to stay positive.

I've called and called and emailed, the only thing I've been told is that they only sent out half the letters, which were mixed and that they still have acceptance/mixed letters to send, so don't lose hope
