Hello,
I was recently accepted into nursing school and submitted an application to Louisiana State Board of Nursing. They sent me back a letter stating that my application was being investigated and that I would not be able to start school/clinicals until I've been approved. Today I received a letter from them asking for arrest documents, summons, referral letters and references. Has anyone ever had to go through this process with LSBN? I'm just looking for some advice on what I should send and/or what else to expect. I'm devastated!! I've been arrested three times, all of which were dismissed. I'm not proud of either incident and would truly appreciate any advice given.
Thank you

Never, ever lie. Give them what they want. Recognize that BoNs were not created to benefit nurses but to protect the public. If you have to speak with anybody there, get advice from TAANA (TAANA Executive Office - Home) about how to proceed.

As part of my job, I've become familiar with the LSBN disciplinary process & outcomes. My advice? Be absolutely honest. Provide all of the information requested - then double check to make sure that they received it. If each incident was dismissed, there is a very good chance that you will be cleared to continue your education.
LSBN (like many, many others) is woefully underfunded. They have to work with limited resources available to handle all disciplinary actions. I can imagine how frustrating & embarrassing it must be, but there is no way to speed up the review process.
