Ok here's the situation, I am a charge nurse lpn in connecticut and am concidering moving to Ma, but I am curious to know how the roles differ in the 2 states? here I cant start and IV I cant push IV meds or draw blood...... cant do much work with kids besides school nursing pay isnt too bad i am just shy of $23 can anyone help or point me to a good website to get this info?

What part of Connecticut are you from????

Massachusetts LPN's can do more then Connecticut. We have an LPN for staff development nurse, unit manager, & shift supervisors. We can do alot that can't be done in other states.

Fairly new Lpn here I work in a LTC facility and I make $25 per hour and anything over 8 hrs is time and 1/2 Yesterday I worked a double and it was a $500.00 day for me... I am IV certified, but unfortunately we get very few orders for Iv's, and I have pushed meds... We need good nurses who have compassion for these geriatric patients.. Good luck

Thanks to thoe 2 that actually responded I appreciate it would have liked more input but I guess thats the way the cookie crumbles :banghead:

I'm currently charge nurse in an inpatient detox - we have EXACTLY the same job as the RNs here... charge alternates btw me and a couple other nurses LPN or RN. We do continual assessments and meds for pts in withdrawal and do admit h&p, MD orders, referrals, manage the whole darn building on nights/weekends. I have also worked med-surg in MA and CA.

If I understand you, are you asking if you can work as a school nurse in MA? To work in school, you must have a BSN.

The nursing practice act is located on the Board of Registration of Nursing.

The LPN on our ortho/oncology floor seems to be able to do anything. The only thing that she can't do is IV push. I really don't know about drawing blood (off CVL) or working in management.

You might want to try out the nursing board web site for MA to see what the role of the LPN is.

Good luck! I hope you find what you are looking for.
