LPN's in public health?

Published

I am going to be starting an LPN program soon, and when I'm done I was hoping to either work in public health or emerg. I was just wondering if in Canada LPN's can work in public health, or do you have to be an RN for those positions!

Thanks for any advice!!

I am in Ontario and PNs can work in public health in my area and PNs work in the ER at the hospital that I work in. It may vary from province to province.

In Alberta, they do both. Where in Canada are you?

Sorry, I should have specified that, I am in Manitoba!

I have also seen PNs working in public health. I think if you contacted public health in your province, or perhaps visited their website, you may be able to see some open positions that are presenting accepting applications. Perhaps you may see some job descriptions for LPN's. Contacting them about your inquiry would definitely solve the problem!

Yep. In Ontario you can do both. That said, RNs can do MORE in those areas then LPNs, but they are increasing the scope of PNs all the time! Go us! :) Good luck in your program!
