Any sort of dental trauma, not sure why but it really gets to me!

Hi everyone,I'm a nursing student, and I've been asked a By a couple of people to borrow my stethoscope. I REALLY don't like loaning it out for a couple of reasons. I kind of thinks it's gross, I mean they go in your ears lol. And I'm also afraid it will grow legs and walk away... But as a lowly nursing student i feel awkward refusing these requests. Any suggestions as a good way to say no? Thanks,

I was just thinking about the lpn course in Canada being 2 years long, but in the US I believe you can get your RN (ADN) in 2 years and 1 year for LPN there, so I was just wondering how Canadian LPN's compare to their American counterparts? I'm not trying to start a debate or anything, I was just curious is all :)

I am going to be starting an LPN program soon, and when I'm done I was hoping to either work in public health or emerg. I was just wondering if in Canada LPN's can work in public health, or do you have to be an RN for those positions! Thanks for any advice!!

Sorry about all the confusion. I do live in Canada and up here the only route to RN is 4 years, LPN is two. LPN is also more available, you don't need to go to a big city to do it like you do with the RN program. I really wasn't trying to start an LPN vs RN debate I was just trying to get some insight into some of the attitudes towards LPNs that I had noticed in other threads.

I am in a very similar boat! except I can't afford to do the RN program because I would have to move and it is 4 years!! (Canada) So i'm opting to do the LPN route instead, its only 2 years and I can do it right here in my community. It just makes more sense for me right now, as your reasons do for you. I actually started a similar post today. It is frustrating but, try not to let it get to you :)

Hi, I am a nursing student, and after year 1 of my RN, Ive realized I can't afford to finish RN so I'm doing the 2 year LPN course instead. One day I do hope to upgrade but for now it will just be LPN. I've been reading alot of discussions on here and alot of what i read is people (RN's) talking about how bad LPNs are and how unsafe they are. I don't want to end up in a career where I have no respect from my colleagues. I thought we were all nurses, and although RNs do have a greater scope of practice what is the purpose of disrespecting LPNs? Thanks
