Do any of you know if dialysis units hire LPN's? there is a Fresenius unit close to my home applied today. I have 2 yrs LPN experience in LTC but would like something more technical.

My best nurse in the chronic unit I manage is an LPN. That said, it depends on the unit and where your located (state). I'm in Florida and every unit I've been affiliated with has LPN's on staff. Mine do charge on the unit so I can get my paperwork days done when needed. In fact I have RN's who work the floor and my LPN does the charge even when they are there. She has far more experience than any of my RN's and I am very confident with her skills as a nurse. Go for it!!

I live in IL and Fresenius just demoted all the LPNs to tech status. We have no more LPNs.

I know this post is really old, but Trauma, why did they do that? What happened? Was that statewide?

I'm a LPN ( new grad) and I went to apply today for a dialysis position. One of the workers said that they use LPNS and RNS and it doesn't matter if we are a LPNs because we are nurses too. That just made my day !
