LPN Traveling Nursing Jobs

Hi to all,

I was wondering are there still companies out there that hire LPN as travel nurses?

During my searches, I am only finding companies that are currently seeking RN. If you of any please share? I live in the state Mississippi if that would be of any help.

last I heard the only travel LPN jobs were for experienced dialysis LPN's and that was limited as in some states dialyis is out of the scope of practice for LPNs.

Sorry so late, just came upon your post.

A few Alaska hospitals still use LPN travelers. I am in Bethel AK and because of the type of health system they use for the native Alaskans they have a lot of "clinics".

I don't have any answers on what companies are being used but could find out when I work next (I will talk to the LPN travelers).

With all that being said. I am a traveling LPN and have traveled with no gaps for a year so far. Traveling for 2yrs. Agencies advertise for RN's but sometimes they cant fill the position with an RN and the facility will settle for LPN as long as they have experience

When I worked in South Carolina, LPNs could not do dialysis treatments in the hospital. They also were not hired in clinics because they aren't allowed to touch catheters, push heparin, or do meds, without a special certification. Some were grandfathered in, but they treat them as a tech. I now working in Texas, LPNs do dialysis here, but certain hospitals have specified that they no longer want LPNs doing treatments. The dialysis travel positions are pretty much 100% RN. They often want a BSN, ACLS, and certification. I wish things were different because I know a lot of amazing LPNs that often know more then the RNs.

Oh ok. I am a traveling dialysis nurse. LPN to be exact. I knew of the acute units not wanting LPNs but that was all. Of course it depends on what state your in. In Massachusetts the techs access cath.

Yeah I've heard that in Indiana as well the techs can access catheters. In South Carolina, I never even saw any LPNS at the hospital. In Texas, they seem to use them a lot more. Do you have any problems finding travel jobs? Thanks. :)

To be honest no I have no problem finding travel jobs@ all. I get nervous s t the end of my contracts but a position always comes up

im a new lpn grad and was wondering what is was like to travel? usually do the agencies pay for housing? or do I pay? Im diabetic so how is the insurance like? are prescription copays high or about normal?

Insurance seems to be awful across the board. I am stopping travel nursing bc of the insurance. I've asked numerous agencies and they all require $500/month to get insurance and then it's basically worthless. I am having some stomach problems and so travel nursing is not right for me anymore. Also if you ever have a sick day, you may be charged by your agency for missing a day. There is no mercy. Those are the only down sides of traveling. I really enjoyed it, but it's not realistic anymore because of the benefits and personal problems I'm having. I would not recommend it if you need good insurance, but that's just me.
