lpn THEN absn?

Published

I recently found an accelerated bsn that accepts LPN's as long as they have the pre reqs completed along with 65 credit hours.

OR

they accept motivated students with 90 credits and students with BS in other fields.

I have the opportunity to attend LPN school this fall for 10months, paid by a pell grant.

OR

I could finish up the rest of the 90 credits..i have 47...and apply for the Jan 2013 class for the ABSN....this is the earliest I could get in because they only start the ABSN every Jan...and I have to have the 90 credits finished by this may to get into the Jan 2012 class.

The ABSN is 12 mths in length monday thru friday 8-5pm all year long.

do you think it would be smarter to get my LPN and then try the ABSN. I have previous healthcare experience as a CNA, but I was thinking being an LPN might give me an edge going through the clinical portion of the ABSN. The LPN program Im looking at has clinicals 2x a week Jan-June.

so should I go the LPN route FIRST or just finish my 90 credits? either way im applying for the Jan 2013 class of the ABSN.

THANKS!
