Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Does it make sense to become an LPN now since they are phasing them out?? I'm looking for a nursing program with nights and weekends . I can't seem to find any RN programs I'm seeing mostly LPN . I'm currently in NY.

LPNs are not being 'phased out'. That stupid rumor has been going around since I was in LPN school (40 years ago). While it is true that LPNs are seldom hired into acute care any longer, there are a multitude of jobs for them in other areas - clinics, LTC and such.

LPN is a great first step into nursing, and there are abundant bridge programs. I personally did LPN > AAS > BSN > MSN > DNP

If you have more than one nearby nursing program available to you, it would make sense to attend the BSN program from the get go. You will save time, money, and effort in the long run in making yourself maximally employable at the start of your nursing career. If other considerations take precedence, then another plan will be better for you at this time. Look at the job market for LPN vs RN in your area as part of your decision process.
