LPN School Here I Come!!!!! Help Im Scared

Published

Hello to everyone. I am new to all nurses and very excited. I will begin LPN school in two weeks. This will begin my journey toward becoming a RN. I already have a degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and work in the stat lab in the Emergency Room. However in that career I won't be able to climb the "career" ladder, so I have decided to exit this career as soon as possible. Yes becoming a LPN I will take a major pay cut but I am looking at the bigger picture. I have a question for all the LPN's out there or current students. How hard is the program??????:bowingpur

Hi MsDanny,

Im going partime in the lpn program, I have 2 semesters left. I have already done pharm and foundations and all the other pre reqs. I will be starting med-Surg 1 and 2 and 2 rounds of clinicals this next month. the my last semester I have clinicals 2,3,4 and a family nursing class, then Im done in May 2009. Then I will apply to RN school. The program is challenging for most. And for me the hard part was the math, I have never liked math, so I had to relearn everything. I had even for got how to do a fraction . So my advice would be to brush up on the math skills if thats an issue for you, and practice your CNA skills, if you dint currently work as one. Also I started reading the claissifications of meds way before I had pharm, but it really helped me when the time came. This summer I will be studying med-surg to get a jump start, because my full time classmates took it last semester and alot of them struggled and a few didnt pass. And I cant afford to fail. I will also practice my LPN and CNA skills I learned in foundations and math. Because in order to go out on clinicals you have to pass a math test first. So good luck I hope that gave you some Idea.

Thanks it does give me some idea of the difficulty. I guess I have a lot on my plate to deal with. However anything that is important to you takes commitment and dedication, so I am officially ready to take on this challenge.:yeah:
