LPN School Forcing Change of Hair color

Published

Hey Guys I had a question. I am starting LPN school here in Miami, fl and the school is making the girls dye their hair their natural color because they say that's professional and if we don't have it our natural color the first day we wont be able to get into class. I understand when they told us no purple or red, green, pink, etc. But I have my hair dyed brown and my natural color is black. I don't understand what is unprofessional about this. Is this illegal? has this happened to anyone?

Are you sure when they say "back to natural color" they don't mean just the out there colors that NO ONE naturally has..

If you come in with no roots showing, how are they going to know? I don't know if it's legal, but it sure is unreasonable.

I think the policy is being misinterpreted. I believe they mean "a" natural color and not pink, green, or purple.

Well the lady in the orientation was like "black is my natural color so I have to have it black. If you are naturally blonde that's okay but if you are not then you have to have the natural color." I am just going to leave it how it is and like JenniferSews said no roots showing.

Oh my goodness! Ridiculous! If hair is presentable, clean and professional the color should not matter ie.., brn bln blk red as well as high/low lights! I've never heard of that and no plenty of students with various colors! Good luck n hopefully you can keep the color you prefer! Keep us posted!

This sounds like something from the 1950s. None of the faculty had better be hiding gray. :D

Ridiculous. The military is not that strict, and if any organization is strict about hairstyling practices, it is the military.
