I'm just about to finish LPN school in 4 months. RN nurses congratulate me on going to school but then say when are you planning on getting your RN next. I'm saying to myself I haven't even finished LPN school or better yet worked as one and your talking about RN school like LPNS are not an essential part of nursing. And most of the nurses I come across say the same thing..."LPN'S are alright but you really want to be an RN". What's up with the pressure of getting an RN degree, it's like if you don't, your really not a so called "true nurse" why can't they just congratulate and leave it at that. I'm curious what others think.
Thanks I have been doing alot of research and LPNS where I live can make as much as 30 dollars an hour, so I defintely feel you on that. But I guess those who say continue on are talking about getting a higher title and fulfilling there absolute dream. That's just my guess though
Just watch out for thinking LVNs/ lpns can make $xx versus what a new grad in today's market, does earn.
In my area, MAs can make $33+/hr. But that's those who work in acute facilities with unions who have experience. New MAs can hardly find $10/hr jobs!
As far as LVNs, those in acute facilities earn $30+-$40 + pet hour, but this isn't the typical new grad starting wage,,which is $17-$29/hr, with avg ~$23/hr.
Hope this helps!
