Published

I have been an LPN for 8 years, I am undecided if I should go to a traditional college or try excellsor. Are there any success stories out there?

ok! :D

another successful and most satisfied excelsior grad chiming in ! :D

did the same thing.. working fulltime where i continue to work now. couldn't be more pleased. decided to persue my lifelong dream of becoming an rn after much encouraging from my nm.. after all, at 50, you begin to have some doubts... :uhoh21: but that was then and this is now.. at 55, i am convinced it's nevr 2 late !

yes, it takes self discipline, yes it takes sacrifice and willpower and motivation.. but if it's a goal you have chosen for yorself, all that will be there! because it's something you want.

i, too, had no use for going to traditional classes and all the broohaha that goes along with it. was too old for that nonsense. i do far better on my own.

you decide what's best for you.. you know yoursrelf best.

can't say i've ever heard of anyone who went through this program who came out disappointed. :)

Thanks for posting. I for one appreciate the input. You are right, for those of us "older" students trudging on and off campus (not to mention the "busy work") I encountered in my trad programs, distance ed is the best way for me.

The self discipline, sacrifice and willpower are a small price for me to pay to be able to study, test and move at my own pace.

Please chime in often. EC grads have been so helpful and I believe there is so much more to be learned from the voices of experience!

Hi,

Where you an LPN before you started Excelsior? I'm want to get into the RN program at my state college (ft myers) but it's too much of a mission and waiting list. I was thinking maybe I should go to a vocational school, get my LPN then do Excelsior? Do you think this is a good idea? BTW I've taken online classes before and I'm completely fine with it, I actually like it.

Another question. Where you able to find a job as an RN right away?

Specializes in Hospice, Med-Surg, Telemetry, Oncology,.

Thanks for YOUR motivation!

Blesings to you and yours,

Sharon Harris, future RN

Medeuce, im in the same situation as you! Im in Pennsylvania and the wait lists are insane.... im most likely going to get my LPN too and then do Exclesior as well. Ive taken a lot of online classes too. Im trying to get all my general education courses done before I start at Excelsior so I can just focus on my nursing classes then.
