Lpn to rn should i do excelsior??? Please help

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Hello all!!! I am an LPN i graduated June 11, I want my RN sooo badly but really do get discouraged with all the waiting lists in my area...is Excelsior doable?? is it legit?? Is it true you go away for the weekend to perform clinical in NYC and how bad is that??? I am very nervous about this and need all the info I can get and any advice I can get please help me make my decision thank you fellow nurses :)!!!!!!!!

Is their anyone who has taken the Health Safety exam that could give me some advise on what is some good material to use to study for this exam. I would really appreciate it. Thanks,

I used sg101 and excelsior practice exams for all the tests. I don't recommend sg101 for LS2 or LS3 unless you're just interested in passing as opposed to a certain score. Otherwise it is very good material.

Study Guides

I just discovered Flashcard exchange and it looks like a great study tool. I google "flashcardexchange and ....chronicity, reproductive. etc." and there's lots of great info available.

thank you everyone for your advice !!!! It sounds confusing as far as study guides and tests but I am sure once you get started it all falls into place!

Study Guides

I was looking through the "required" textbooks for Health Safety, which seem to be quite a lot and not sure if they are the text for all of the exams or just Health Safety. I also am wondering if they are even worth the money since I don't see them mentioned much on AN. I did order a couple of them, one that I know will be needed for the CPNE (way later) but as far as all of the others I'm wondering if those can either wait or did people order them at all? Any insight is appreciated.

I just started studying for the Health Safety and I'm hoping it all falls into place too, lol. It seems a little confusing just making sure I'm looking over the right material. I also don't want to waste any money on unneeded books if I can avoid it. Good luck.

cool, I lived in clearwater before I moved out to lakeland. I worked for sunstar ems and largo fire.

as far as the books go, I recently ordered Taylor's Fundamentals based on one of Beachie's posts, Taylor's Clinical Nursing Skills, the Mosby's Nursing Diagnosis book, and a drug book (which I regret as they are available on the nursing floors according to the cpne study guide). I didn't have any of these books during my classes, they are all for cpne and the mosby's nursing diagnosis is also for the fcca.

what I loved about sg101 is that they basically went through the excelsior content guide for these exams and paraphrased the related information so you can save money by not ordering the texts. this also cuts out the confusing factor, as everything is in the one main study file and the rest is just extra.

thank you so much! i ordered sg101 and

mosby's nursing diagnosis yesterday. i already have a drug guide from previous schooling. hopefully i can make due with that for awhile anyway. when i get closer to fcca and cpne i am sure i will order more.

i see sunstar ems and largo fire all the time. i lived in largo when i first moved to florida. i am a lpn here.

Excelsier is worth it if you do EXACTLY what they teach. You are still a new LPN and I would suggest working at LEAST a full year before starting process. You need your clinical skills down and if you work in a Hospital/critical care facility you are even better off. Lot's of luck to you.

I am also in Florida but I am on the eastern coast... about 50ish miles north of West Palm Beach :-)
