hi everyone, and good luck with your studies! i recently completed my degree with excelsior and am waiting PATIENTLY for my att letter so i can take my rn boards."wish me luck" anyway excelsior is a great school and i found the advisors to always be extremely helpful, once you submit your application they will let you know what classess/credits you will need to complete, if you are already an lpn you do not have to take nursing concepts 2, my advice is to take advantage of clep exams through your local college for whatever you can , i took a foreign language (humanities), lifespan, intro to psych and intro to soc., this will help you because they are way cheaper(about 60 bucks) than taking them through the college, obviously you have to take the nursing exams through them , english if needed and info lit. you set your own pace for exams and schedule them yourself, you get a free study guide from the school for each exam and you can get alot of books on ebay from former students for way cheap, don't go through a publisher if you don't have to they can be very expensive. be very sure about your decision because it may sound easy but it's not you have to be committed and work hard and still have a life!!!lol. the clinical exam CPNE is super stressful but doable. good luck to all!!

Thanks Chris. What state are you in? Are the study guides books that direct you to other books to read from or do they include info that may be or has been on previous test? if you had to estimate your total cost for EC what would that be?

hi! i am in new jersey. the study guides give you an itemized list of exactly what you can expect to see on the test(areas of study) there is a practice test at the end around 25 questions or so to give you a feel of what they are looking for and a list of recommended books. i guesstimate my total cost for ec was around 8000$ this includes travel and hotel for cpne. good luck

Thanks Chris. Did you participate in any study groups either for the course or the CPNE? How helpful was the advisiors and other EC staff? did you say how long it took you to complete? How often where you taken your test?

ok, no study groups just me and my books, i was taking approximately 2 tests per month and completed everything in 9 months. i took a workshop for the cpne plus the care planning conference through EC, i definitely recomment the practice tests through the college alot of the same stuff appeared on the actual exam, and the staff and advisors at Ec were very helpful and i felt genuinely wanted me to succeed!

The time it takes to compleate 1 class is really up to you . I read my first book in 3 weeks and was ready to take the CLEP exam. So you can pace yourself.

I am from AL and I am finished with all of the nursing courses. I am waiting for a date to take my CPNE clinical exam. I love the program at Excelsior. It was the best decision that I have ever made. Should have done this long before now.:monkeydance:

Hey, my name is Ramelle i'm in north Georgia I've been an LPN for 18 years I'm currently taking prereqs and plan to attend EC as well if you enroll before oct,1 you won't be required to take the additional courses being added to the program. if I make ok, if I don't ok. I'm not going to let the additional courses be a hinderence to my goal.
