Lpn rate of pay in Georgia?

Published

I'm currently looking to move out of NJ by next years, it has gotten way to expensive, I'm wondering the rate of pay for LPNs in Georgia?

It depends on the area in nursing, location, and years of experience. My last day as an LPN 4 years ago was at $28/hr with 24 years of experience, hospital PRN pool (NO BENEFITS), Metro Atlanta area. Being a full or part time staff worker will bring in significantly less, not to mention the level of difficulty for LPNs to get into the hospital setting these days... My last nursing home job was at $15.25/hr plus diff. That was with 20 years of experience and doing it ONLY because I loved the elderly. I was an agency nurse using hospital assignments as my primary source of income. That was in 2006, also in Metro-Atlanta. Two years ago in late 2012, I was contacted for an RN job down in South Georgia because they were impressed with my resume and were prepared to offer me a whopping $21/hr. They must have been impressed with the format of it only. Took me every bit of half a second to turn that down. But that should give you some indication of what LPNs make in the area. One LPN that I worked with elsewhere who does work at that location says she is being paid $14/hr with 14 years of experience. But again, that amount was location-driven and this is hearsay, though I believed her based on what they offered me. The easy coast and northern portions of the state will probably offer you more than the quieter, less-populated areas.

I hope this helps somewhat. Good luck!

Hello thanks for your reply it does help!! Doesn't make sense to move if the struggle will be the same, much cheaper living but cheaper pay, it's all the same.. Thanks

Im in Georgia now and make 16/hr as a new grad. This tends to be average unless you have tons of experience or work in prisons or home health. Oddly enough, my family may move back to NJ after being gone for three years. I was offered 18/hr at a facility in South Jersey. If that's my reality there- Im nervous. Money seems to go further in Georgia. Even in Atlanta, you have your share of really nice 120,000 houses. Unheard of in NJ. You make less in GA, but you're not facing a 250,000 mortgage for a decent house with good schools. Id be making 2 dollars more an hour with increased housing costs, insurance costs, etc. Its tough. Good luck with everything!

Hey what part of GA are you looking at?? There's a chance that you will make less than what you're used to but the cost of living might be much cheaper than what you're used to as well.......

Cost of living in jersey is ridiculous! The taxes on my fathers house is $600 and that's just the taxes! A one bedroom apartment is no less than &

$900 if u want to be in a good area, yea I figured in GA you make less ,but I know the cost of living is a lot cheaper, just wanted to make sure it wasn't the same struggle...

Hey I'm not sure I believe it's near Atlanta, my parents are retiring and moving there, I can't at the moment because I have a son and need to make sure it's a safe area and good schools are around, but jersey is getting so expensive

I live in GA & the starting pay for new grads around here where I live is roughly around $15--give or take a dollar or two for shift differentials. Not much honestly but the cost of living isn't too bad here either. When we first moved here, we rented a 2 year old 2 b/r 2 bath 1200 s/f for less than $800.Hope that helps!

Wow I planned to move to Georgia after I graduate this December from Illinois. I didn't know the LPN pay was so low.
