LPN programs "14" Michigan

Hello! I would like to hear from students that are starting and from students that are graduating from LPN programs here in Michigan in (or around) 2014.

I'll start. I am starting Davenport's LPN program in Warren in the fall. I'm super excited (after waiting on ADN programs, etc...)!

Our program is a "career ladder" program. Both LPN & RN students take the same classes. Once you finish 2nd level, you are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN and you're done. After 4th level, you can sit for the NCLEX-RN. I just finished 2nd level. I'd say about 20% of our class took the exam & applied for LPN licensure. All of them are currently CNAs or techs at the hospital who will get a pay raise because of the LPN. We did not have a single person in our class who was aiming for LPN only.

The are lots of LPN-to-RN bridge programs out there, so you should have no trouble getting in to a program to finish your RN once you have your LPN. I know in our school, they have 32 seats for advanced standing (LPN, Paramedic, Resp. Therapist, etc.) students and they never fill all those spots, so basically, if you apply, you're in. Whereas, it's super competitive to get straight in to the RN program.

What school did you go to? I considered paramedic to nursing before but not sure what schools offer it!

It's Lansing Community College. Just go to http://www.lcc.edu and then search for Nursing Career Ladder program.

They admit 32 "advanced standing" students per year (LPN, Paramedic, Resp. Therapist, etc.) From what I understand, they haven't received enough applications to fill all 32 spots in that track, so you can definitely get in. I believe applications are closed for this fall, but contact them and see what they say.
